Pat Robertson: God told him it's Bush in a 'blowout'

Pat Robertson said Friday that God told him President Bush will be re-elected in a landslide.

"I think George Bush is going to win in a walk," the religious broadcaster said on his "700 Club" program on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded.

I'm searching through the archives and it may be we're both right :-)

It was the 13 September 2001 edition of the 700 Club in an exchange between Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell and Falwell made this statement: "what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact, if in fact God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve."

Before the interview, Robertson made the following statement: "...We have insulted God at the highest levels of our government. And, then we say 'why does this happen?' Well, why it's happening is that God Almighty is lifting his protection from us. And once that protection is gone, we all are vulnerable because we're a free society, and we're vulnerable..."

Source (granted the sources I've seen are highly secularist and often anti-Christian, but the full transcript is there if transcribed accurately)

For some reason I still recall hearing Pat say "Cloak of protection" but I haven't been able to find that exact quote.

I think you're right. I found this from a Sept 14th AP article;Robertson Defends Falwell By CHRIS KAHN, Associated Press Writer

``All of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen,''' Falwell said.
He added later, ``God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.''

``Jerry, that's my feeling,'' Robertson responded. ``I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population.''
Falwell said Friday that he didn't mean to blame any one group for the destruction.
``But I'd say this is a wake up call from God,'' he told The Associated Press. ``I feel our spiritual defenses are down. If we don't repent, then more events might happen in the future.''
On Thursday, Robertson issued a statement on the attack that said America had insulted God and lost divine protection.

``We have insulted God at the highest level of our government. Then, we say, 'Why does this happen?''' he wrote in a statement released through his Christian Broadcasting Network. ``It is happening because God Almighty is lifting his protection from us.''

He doesn't begin to qualify. (as psychotic)

Evidently you are listening to the WRONG SOURCE

He may or may not qualify as psychotic. But he most definitely does not quality as a Prophet....which, here, he presents himself to be. His claim is blasphemous....if you go in for that sort of thing.

But Mr. Robertson has a track record of making pronouncements and prophecies, allegedly given by God, that have failed to come to pass. The end of the world in 1982 comes to mind...

I had a close Christian sister in the past who was part Native American. She had always had a close, intimate relationship with God and heard from Him fairly clearly fairly routinely.

She RARELY said "GOD SAYS . . . " WHEN she did say it that way--it ALWAYS came true--though in God's time.

She OFTEN said things like: "I have an impression . . . " "I feel . . . " etc. She was about 80% right in those cases.

I've heard Robertson say a lot of tings like the latter. I don't personally recall him saying THUS SAYS THE LORD GOD OF ISRAEL [specifically . . . ] Perhaps he has.

I have certainly heard him say intemperate, unwise things. I've plenty often been guilty of the same thing. I dare say,

EVERY CRITIC HEREON OF WHAT HE HAS SAID--HAS ****ALSO**** BEEN GUILTY OF SAYING UNWISE, INTERMPERATE THINGS.

And certainly virtually every preacher I know of in ANY denomination has asserted, not only The Gospel, but also a LONG LIST of personal opinions (and idiosyncratic constructions on reality) AS THOUGH they were unalterable fact straight from Mt Sinai WHETHER THEY WORDED IT THAT WAY, OR NOT.

THE BIBLE INSTRUCTS US ALL to declare . . . "IF THE LORD WILLS, we will go there and do that tomorrow." How many bother to obey the Lord in such statements? Arrogance of Pat's ilk and degree abounds everywhere in Christendom--under different shadings and whitewashes and different customary phrases.

That kind of error, arrogance, misspeaking, hogwash is NOT AT ALL UNIQUE to Pat. It's just that it is framed, couched, labeled differently (I'd say less honestly) by other Chrisitan leaders.

THE BIBLE SAYS THAT WE ALL SEE THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY. I believe that some spiritual leaders hear God above average, more clearly, more accurately than the rest of us. BUT NO ONE HAS THE WHOLE PICTURE. GOD SEEMS STEADFASTLY INTENT ON US NEEDING EACH OTHER TO WORK OUT A MORE COMPLETE PICTURE OF THE PUZZLE.

The best prophets prophecy only IN PART. Those who are most humble, most broken, most crushed, most loving tend to be more accurate as well as wiser in how and what they say.

St Paul exhorted that he wanted ALL BELIEVERS to seek to prophecy (it's not consistent with context or facts that he was only speaking about speaking forth The Gospel). It is logical that some will be beginners and some elder statesmen in growing in that gifting.

Pat has never claimed to be a prophet and I don't particularly believe that he is one. But, he may have a measure of spiritual insight above average if his prayer life supports it. He may even have some level of gifting without the office of prophet.

There are examples of Old Testament prophets missing it without being stoned. Jonah comes to mind but I think there's better examples. No, I'm not going to track them down ATT.

I don't mind extending Pat the same grace I'd like to have in such matters. I will ALSO PRAY for his wisdom to increase in terms of what he says.

CHRIST HIMSELF DECLARED THAT HIS SHEEP *WOULD KNOW* ****HIS VOICE****. He said it. He must have meant it. We are all in varying places along that continuum of learning to discern His still small voice from our own thoughts as well as from the enemy's deceptions. NONE of us does that flawlessly, to my knowledge.

All of us as individuals tend to be convinced that we construe reality; hear God; have and follow our hunches; make choices and judgments at least above average if not way above average. And all of us miss it. Most of us miss it fairly often. Some of us miss it in a big way on big issues or frequently. IT IS WISDOM ON ALL OUR PART to be charitable toward others who also miss it--UNLESS WE WANT TARRED AND FEATHERED WITH THE SAME CRITERIA AND STANDARD OF BRUSH WE WOULD USE ON PAT ROBERTSON.

Yes, saying or implying that God said this or that carries a greater degree of responsibility to be accurate than noting that one is merely voicing a personal hunch or intuition. BUT THE ARROGANCE IS LIKELY TO BE JUST AS SERIOUS IN EITHER CASE--FROM GOD'S PERSPECTIVE.

IMhO, of course.

True healing is facilitated by the Holy Spirit, not by the hit-and-miss antics of the word-faith practitioners. The failed prophecies and faked healings of these charlatans are well documented.

People from many religions outside Christianity have 'experienced' many miraculous things which defy explanation in the natural realm. If we base our belief in God solely on the evidence of our senses or emotions, we are going to miss the best that He has to offer.

Jesus' admonition to Thomas illuminates this infinitely better than I could.

I would never advocate basing one's beliefs or maybe even one's constructions on reality

"solely on the evidence of our senses or emotions."

God gave us our brain as well as our senses and emotions.

Evidently He expects us to use all of them.

Well documented healings have also occurred through some you seem to cast aspersions at. I grant that some seem primarily out in left field or worse primarily in it for fame, money and/or power.

But that's not true of all of them.

And, Hagin via even his son and many of his disciples can easily come off as off the wall on some points.

The fact remains, preaching, teaching, saying, confessing, doing one's best to live and practice THE WORD OF GOD as Hagin personally did--is much more likely to yield MANY more healings and other miracles than not doing so.

GOD HIMSELF SAID HIS WORD

would NOT return void.

I do believe that many Hagin folk and Haganite congregations end up functionally reducing it all to a formula. The Father God that I know is not into formulas--even those based on His Word.

I'm neither for or against 'W', all I know is that he has great taste in women! To my understanding of scripture whoever gets elected into offeice will do so according to God's greater plan for the US. While I have some problems with Bush's agenda, I see no viable alternative especially since Howierd "D is dilbert lookalike" Dean has gotten most of his big bucks from the homosexual lobby. So what if Bush got most of his money from sitting on the board of some oil company? So did Larry Ellefson (one of the 5 richest in USA and the founder of Oracle) but I don't hear anyone saying this makes computer networking a bad thing! Mr Robertson is the owner of the network and say anything he wishes and the beginning of each year he expresses his beliefs on what the year will hold. The fact that, as a human, he occasionally gets things wrong is inevitable and is likely God's way of tuning him down a notch. I don't recall the same outcry when the (so-called) Rev Jesse Jackson ran for the office making similar claims and lost (and cried racism was the culprit…does this mean that he believes God is a bigot?!). As far as the "Reverend" Barry Lindh he is truly a false prophet. In a recent televised debate with a constitutional attorney, he was put on the defensive so many times he resorted to changing the subject, attacking his opponent , and outright whining. When the debate was winding down, the attorney offered to speak at Lindh's ministry. He all but confessed that the title was self-appointed as he has no church or congregation and declines to reveal his ordaining authority.

Regardless of how you feel about Pat Robertson, you need to be careful what you call him. That's uncalled for. Pat does more for the poor and unfortunate than any one I know. I trust him with my money. He IS one of God's anointed ones and God warns us about reviling his anointed. You may not understand him or where he's coming from, and I don't always agree with him either, but God uses him in a mighty way and I'm not going to speak up against him. He has to stand before God if he's wrong. Prophets have always been maligned, often by the church. This is no surprise. I don't know if he's a propet, but I do know he often speaks prophetically and who are we to say he's wrong? Prophecies don't always come about immediately after they've been spoken. We still have many end time prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled but that doesn't mean they aren't true.

and I, for one, have always agreed with his statement. God didn't cause it to happen, but he allowed it. He could have stopped it, like he's stopped many other things from happening since then. America and especially Christians, needed a wake up call. This was not only war but spiritual warfare. I believe wholeheartedly that we are slowly turning back to God because of 911. Let's hope there won't be any more of these attacks. That's why we intercessors pray daily for the protection of our nation. Too bad we weren't as diligent before 911.

Thanks, Quix. You are a voice of reason again, as always. Having a real interest in the prophetic and operate in that gift from time to time, I understand only too well that prophecies are often given in bits and pieces and not always understood at the time. Also, they don't come to pass 20 minutes after someone speaks it. It can take years. I'm still waiting for the word Dennis Cramer spoke over us. It hasn't come to pass yet but I hang on to it and pray over it more and more the older I get. It's helped me to hang on when I thought I was dying. I knew God hadn't spoken that prophecy over a dead person! I thank God for what He's doing in the prophetic these days. It's very encouraging.

YEAH.

I'm still hanging on to some long standing promises, prophecies, predictions over me, too. The most awesomely awful one has come to pass--and the 2nd half of that was gloriously wonderful--so I'm waiting eagerly for the last part of that. I hope there will be plenty of fulfillment too relating to a bunch of relationship stuff prophecies.

God sure seems to do things according to HIS unique time line.

Am blessed that a number of prophetic voices are saying that this year will see lots of release, empowerment, favor etc. . . . fulfillment of long standing prophecies for those who Love God. I sure hope so. I hate getting to the end of a year and thinking that a lot of the prophetic noise of the last year was just that--noise!

But I do have more hope for this year!

We shall see.

Thanks,

"Did the hand of god visit destruction on Orlando yet?"

Nope. God must have been madder at New Jersey worse than Disney (during "gay days"). That hurricane that came up the west coast of Florida didn't wipe out Disney like Robertson said it would, it turned and went up the east coast and hit New Jersey. Hahahaha

Where would these grifters be without the "luv offerins they rake in from the useful idiots! They go out of their way to besmirch God's reputation.
