Anyone who says "Sit at home" or "Vote for Dean" has to be a democrat or liberal. No self respecting conservative would even dream of voting for Dean or anyone of the 9 dwarves....
To: PhiKapMom
From what I understand, the records were sealed because there were numerous private letters to him from his constiuents - and it wouldn't be fair for reporteers to read the lifestories of people that wrote to him in cpnfidence. I have no problem with that.
As far as the military: I have not heard Dean say he would cut any military spending with regards to technology, the weapons, or the forces. He is for staying in Iraq as long as it will take to finish the job there.
As far as his liberal social stance - it doesn't make a difference because he believes such issues should be determined by the states - and he'll have nothing to do with that if he were president.
He doesn't appear to me to be a liar. He answers questions directly, even if they are unpopular answers. I respect that in a person, even if I disagree with them. It shows conviction and sincerity.
As far as this 9/11 theory -- he evidently mentioned that there was such a theory (which there is). He didn't say he believed it. The people responsible for 'spreading' the theory are the people interviewing him who keep bringing it up.
The fact that Bush and the other Republicans signed that Medicare Bill and the CFR and No Child Left Behind is very disapointing to me. I'm conservative because I want LESS big government, LESS programs, MORE issues left to the states. I'm not seeing this at all.

Horse hocky. I'll take Bush and some Republican court picks in a heart beat over any Democrat and the God-hating, America-hating, abortion-loving, homosexual-agenda-loving, gun-grabbing, freedom-robbing, sovereignty surrendering liberal activist judges the Democrats will appoint. Anyone willing to allow Dean or Hillary or Kuccinich or any of the other commie loving Democrats into office IS surrendering to the left.

It's time for O'Connor to GO. Hers is the "swing vote" and now that she's a friend of international law, she needs to play more tennis instead of wearing her black robe. We've got to elect more Republican/Conservative senators to enable Bush to get his judicial nominees seated.
To: woodyinscc
Did you know why (the phaseouts that make it more a sham than a real tax cut), or did you just assume that "too little" was a knee-jerk?
Can we run him out of the Senate on a rail?
Honestly, what has that man done for the Republican Party? I know he keeps hosing conservatives, but he can't even stop from screwing over the party.

Can we all at least agree that Conservatives do not like this bill, or that President Bush signed it,and that we need to stand together to voice our opinions.
Even if we don't get a change here, because we are still going to vote Bush, we could at least let our reps. know we are out here and angry.
I keep thinking, there isn't much we can do for this election go around, and I don't hate Bush, but next time we can flex our conservative muscles more. Especially if they know we are out here.
To: PhiKapMom
That's because Dean isn't big and mean and scary to Republicans. Bush is to Democrats.
Clinton was to Republicans. And that's when Scaife showed it.
Natural cycle.

I propose everyone who reads this should email President Bush and other appropriate Congresscritters and tell them our opinion, and that if they want us to continue to vote Republican, they should act like conservatives and protect the Constitution. I don't propose sitting out the election or voting for protest candidates. So you're telling the GOP to act a certain way or you'll leave, but then you go on to say you won't leave. What good are empty threats?
To: Carolinamom
You are right. Sandra should have retired when she hinted at it. It seems the older they get, the more stupid and liberal they become. Happened to Goldwater, remember?

Here's a thought. Let's write a few planks that would comprise a better party platform. There needs to be a tenable alternative, before we toss W, The Compassionate Rinocerous.
Let's face facts here, Dean wouldn't give you a reach around unless he had a razor hidden in his hand.
Here's three planks for the redruM for President Platform.
1) The purpose of taxation is to raise the necessary and sufficient revenues for government. Thus, as a moral and decent organization, we will levy no taxes designed to alter or overdetermine the economic choices made by consumers. Our ideal goal will be a flat tax levied directly on income with no hidden deductions, codicils or 'lawyer clauses'. The paperwork required to report the amount of tax or refund owed should involve the front side of 1 3X5 index card and could be completed at a 6th grade reading and mathematic level.
2) The ongoing goal of our party shall be the enhanced dignity and sanctity of a human life. The heinous practices of abortion and euthanasia shall be legally restricted wherever this is constitutionally possible. In the event of profoundly adverse litigation against this cause, amending The Constitution will be a possible course of action.
3) Euphemistic excuses and false straw men will not reverse the catastrophic economic, social and national security consequences of a poorly educated citizenry. Literacy, numeracy, logic, ethics and historical perspective are vital to every aspect of our nation's success. If we compromise educational standards and hand out worthless high school and college diplomas, we deserve to be destroyed as a nation. We therefore resolve to enforce a high, unyielding, no excuses standard for all public education that shall not be lowered to account for special pleading.

Republicans are what Democrats were 24 years ago. The Democrats are now Socialist. The country is moving to the cat loving, bed weting left. It's a sad day for the USA. The Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (that's more than 24 years ago) may have been more restrictive than what we have today. It included both campaign contribution limits AND campaign expenditure limits.
Then 5 years later in Buckley v. Valeo, 424 U.S. 1 (1976)the USSC struck down campaign expenditure limits.
We've had some sad days and some good days in the good ole USA. We've been bobbing and treading on the left for a while.

Never said he was. But he is now in a class of citiznes who, because of the sum of money they have acquired, have more rights than you do. Or as George would say, "some are more equal than others".
And as Torie would say:
And there you have it!

I really think that the Dean Internet Machine is out in full force getting as "conservatives" and trying to put a false position on their man... Have you even heard Dean on TV. The guy has to take ridalin or something to bring down his BP.. I mean the anger and the vitriolic hatred...
I would recommend everyone to read the following link where David Brooks talks about Dean "My moment of illumination about Howard Dean came one day in Iowa when I saw him lean into a crowd and begin a sentence with, "Us rural people. . . ."
Dean grew up on Park Avenue and in East Hampton. If he's a rural person, I'm the Queen of Sheba. Yet he said it with conviction. He said it uninhibited by any fear that someone might laugh at or contradict him.
It was then that I saw how Dean had liberated himself from his past, liberated himself from his record and liberated himself from the restraints that bind conventional politicians. He has freed himself to say anything, to be anybody...
Dean runs less on biography than any other candidate in recent years. When he began running for president, he left his past behind, along with the encumbrances that go with it...
The newly liberated Dean is uninhibited. A normal person with no defense policy experience would not have the chutzpah to say, "Mr. President, if you'll pardon me, I'll teach you a little about defense." But Dean says it. A normal person, with an eye to past or future relationships, wouldn't compare Congress to "a bunch of cockroaches." Dean did it."
The guy is as phony as a 2 dollar bill....

He doesn't appear to me to be a liar. He answers questions directly, even if they are unpopular answers. I respect that in a person, even if I disagree with them. It shows conviction and sincerity. Have you seen FNC Special Report tonight .. apparently Dean has been caught in a few lies on his stance about the Iraq war an whether he think Saddam posed a threat to us
Then there is this ..
Schedule details Deans U.S. travels
Deans schedule, released this week after three Vermont newspapers sued for access to it, shows a hectic campaign itinerary that has gotten busier with each passing month.
Some of the highlights include private meetings with Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, both of whom Dean sought out for political advice, as well as the man who plays a president on television, Martin Sheen, the fictitious president on NBCs West Wing.

To: Born in a Rage
Dean said that Bush's records as Governor were sealed -- LIE -- they were never sealed and when confronted he did not change his tune.
If you don't think Dean lies, then there is absolutely no point in my talking to you -- you have made up your mind.
