We all know that the rap on Mrs. Bill Clinton in the past was that she comes off as too cold and aloof. In fact, she’s often thought of in a term that rhyme with "witch."

Well, she is striving manfully to change that perception.

The wire service photos are suddenly now replete with the new highly animated, smiling, laughing, embracing, gesturing Hillary.

Such as these from her star turn at last night’s homosexual activist "Visible Vote 08" forum:

It’s tempting to say Ms. Rodham just felt in her element before a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered crowd.

But she has been acting like this (with an emphasis upon "acting") for several days now.

Apparently the focus groups say that this is what the great unwashed want.

Watching Markos perform in Andrew's video reminds me of another film, Blog Wars, by British filmmaker James Rogan, which we participated in and also reported on here. In that documentary, Markos exclaims, with unabashed wonderment, that "I was a project manager for a software company!" but now is being taken seriously as a political figure. The realization that the motley--to put it kindly--crew filmed by Andrew Marcus represents the soul of the Democratic Party, should give all Republicans hope for 2008.

By page 375 of The Fountainhead, Catherine is experiencing a personal crisis over her social work and turns to her uncle for guidance. "I have no selfish desire left, I have nothing of my own - and I'm miserable." She tells Toohey that she has grown to hate the poor who depend on her.
Toohey tells her that her problem is that she expected to feel virtuous and personally happy for "doing right," and that this was vicious and egotistical.
She replies, "But if you have no...no self-respect, how can you be anything?"
Toohey tells her that she must stop wanting anything. "You must forget how important Miss Catherine Halsey is. Because, you see, she isn't. Men are important only in relation to other men, in their usefulness, in the service they render....You must be willing to suffer, to be cruel, to be dishonest, to be unclean - anything, my dear, anything to kill the most stubborn of roots, the ego. And only when it is dead, when you care no longer, when you have lost your identity and forgotten the name of your soul - only then will you know the kind of happiness I spoke about, and the gates of spiritual grandeur will fall open before you."
"But, Uncle Ellsworth," she whispered, "when the gates fall open, who is it that's going to enter?"
Toohey, momentarily surprised by the perceptiveness of her question - he knows it was an important rebuttal, but she does not - replies with a put-down about her having made a "smart crack." Catherine, intimidated by his "wisdom" and utterly ignorant of its nature, concedes. Alinsky and Toohey agreed that "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." (Alinsky enunciated it in his Rules for Radicals [1971]; Toohey expounded on it to Peter Keating in Part 4, Chapter 16, p. 665.)

And ridicule is all that is in the left's arsenal of psyop weaponry.

Compare that with Hillary's quest for the meaning of her life in her letters to Peavoy. One letter to him she signs "Me," parenthetically adding "the world's saddest word."

It takes a village, or a Toohey, or an Alinsky, to fill such a void. This is a candidate for the Presidency of the United States. Hillary has progressed from doubting the effectiveness of massive government programs to help the poor to seeing them as the only answer, in the name of "social justice." Like Alinsky, like Toohey, she wishes to crush the individualist independence of Americans and replace it with dependence on the state - and she would be the state - chiefly because she has grown to fear and hate independence in anyone.
No matter how slickly "human" she presents her made-over self to the public in debates or during interviews, one can still detect in her the desire to kill in every American his integrity, self-respect, sense of values, the heroic, and happiness. When she left Wellesley, she decided to become the "star," someone whom uncounted others would come to depend on and thank for that dependence.
This is a would-be dictator, and dictators, as I have noted in other commentaries, are only as real to themselves as the number of people they need to rule and command.

In real life - as opposed to fairytales - misrepresenting facts is called "lying." Constantly changing yourself (and your "truth") according to the company you are in is called "a lack of integrity." A lack of integrity is considered by most normal folks to be a glaring character defect. Now, if even Carl Bernstein is able to admit that Hillary is a liar and has a substantial lack of integrity, why would we even elect her POTUS?

On the other hand, she is a Democrat, and unfortunately, it looks as though they are about to foist her upon the rest of us. William Saffire, in his 1/8/96 NYT editorial, "Blizzard of Lies," cut straight to the chase with a great deal of prescience, when he wrote:

"Americans of all political persuasions are coming to the sad realization that our First Lady (Hillary Rodham Clinton) - a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation - is a congenital liar."

So, just for a moment try to forget Travelgate (cronyism at its vile lowest), Whitewater (phony S&L scheme that cost taxpayers $4 million), campcon (FBI investigation into illegal Chinese government political contributions to Clintons and DNC), Monica-gate (don't even go there), and Pardongate (the final-hour pardons granted by the Clinton "Co-Presidency," including a host of Clinton & Rodham relatives, friends and big contributors).

She's Got 2 Million Little Secrets

The Clinton Presidential Library holds an estimated two million documents relating to Hillary Clinton's activities as First Lady -- a record on which she has explicitly based her campaign for the presidency. She has a page dedicated to it on her campaign web site. Her mantra, "strength and experience", rests on her tenure in the White House.

So why won't the Clinton library open these records to the public? The Los Angeles Times reports that the presidential library won't release them until after the 2008 election. At Heading Right, I note the contradiction of a candidate running on a record she won't publicly release, even though other First Ladies have been more forthcoming with their papers.
