President Bush secretly landed an hour ago and is currently eating Thanksgiving dinner at my undisclosed location. Anticipate a press release after he takes off.

I just read your post questioning the reason for this being categorized as breaking news. What constitutes breaking news in your opinion? Please tell me you're just confused and not another sad liberal trolling for a fight.

"Pic from aljazeera hoe did they get this so quick?"
That picture is file footage. The soldiers are wearing the wrong style of camo for this to be from Iraq. I think the photo is from when Bush visited some troops here stateside--somewhere on a base in the southern US during the early days of the invasion or just prior to the invasion.
The soldiers in & around Baghdad are wearing desert style camo. I would think that most of Al Jazeera's viewing audience would have been jarred to see that woodland camo in the background and had to know it wasn't actual tape of the president in Baghdad.

"Is that stroy true? Did that really happen? That must have been surreal for that other pilot!!!"Yaelle, the way I understand it, is the back up plane is the same as AF1 but does not have all the Presidential markings on it. So if that British Pilot saw it he was familiar with the size and shape
As far as the story being true, I don't know.

OMG... we're on our way to Thanksgiving dinner with all of our Democrat relatives... this is going to be fun! Full report please!!
Thanksgiving after action report: I'm deeply saddened. Not a political word crossed anybody's lips... I suspect because my liberal brother-in-law brought friends and it's not polite to have a food fight in front of company. Of course these friends looked like hippie-types (I really liked her diamond stud nose ring) and when they pulled up in front of the house they parked right behind our Bush/Cheney 2004 bumper sticker, but not a word. Nobody even asked why we were smirking more than usual, or why we were sequestered in the back room watching Fox News and roaring with laughter.
Of course, once we left I'm sure it was open season, with all of them bashing the black sheep. BAAAA!

It should be reminded that x42 could NEVER surprise troops like this. His visits had to be planned and then they actively reminded the soldiers it was an offense to criticize the president. x42 could not afford to trust the troops and the troops did not trust x42. Exactly! I was on active duty during x42 and we were briefed continually to watch what we said about him. Of course he rarely came near us, so it wasn't that hard.
Funny story:I do recall once in Quantico when he landed there at the airfield, my CO had to be there at the hangar. He hung as far back as he could so as not to be associated with him, but Clinton saw him, made a beeline for him, and shook his hand for a photo. When he got back to the squadron he was very upset, so of course we teased him mercilessly. Threatened to revoke his membership in the Rush Limbaugh fan club.

I never said that ck didn't say where he was... I said he talked about the President after the president was already landed in baghdad. But before he had left Baghdad. All the press stories were held till after the President had left. This was done to prevent Al Qaeda of Baathists from being able to attack the airport or Air Force One when it would later attempt to take off. Someone with an internet connection anywhere in the world could have determined that the President was on the ground in Baghdad and alerted terrorist to take action.

"Is that stroy true? Did that really happen? That must have been surreal for that other pilot!!!" (about the British Airways pilot supposedly seeing AF-1.)
I tend to doubt the story because that plane would have to be awfully close to AF-1 to be able to see the markings. Wouldn't it?? OTOH, I've read that AF-1 was flying "dark" and didn't have all of the electronic gizmos lit up & functioning. Haven't read anything (yet) as to whether or not AF-1 had a complement of escorts which I think is SOP.
The other thing that bothers me is that I think the Gulfstream 5 is about half the size of AF-1. One wouldn't think a commercial airline pilot would be fooled into confusing it w/ a Boeing 747. However, I'm mindful that any plane the president is passenger on is technically "Air Force One".
It IS a good story though; I just have some doubts as to its veracity.

sure made my day yesterday.....the affection and enthusiasm the troops have for a leader such as him that they know supports and appreciates them is undeniable.
what a refreshing change!
that was pretty brave, the terrs would have sent a brigade of suicide bombers to get him if they'd had intel.

It must have been uncomfortable, community dining. I hope the soldiers were just told to put in an appearance and were able to enjoy a "real" Thanksgiving meal afterwards.

Just heard a woman call in to a Mpls. radio talk show this morning.
She said she is very much a peace activist and very much a democrat.
She said seeing Pres. Bush surprising the soldiers had her crying, and she thought it was a wonderful thing that he was there!
The sincerity and involvement that President Bush has for the troops is changing some minds.

Posting this when you did unnecessarily risked the life of your Commander in Chief.
I'll be quite surprised if it doesn't have an impact on your career.
