A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-25-03....Countdown to the Holidays
Billie

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_Bear, dansangel, dutchess, Aquamarine ~

Last year, about this time, we asked for help from our readers in guest-writing a holiday thread, because it gets very hectic for most of us from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day. Your response warmed our hearts; it was such a big help to us, as Dansangel, daisyscarlett, and I were the only ones preparing the daily threads at this time last year. (Mama_Bear was taking care of the weekends, then as now, but was on a temporary 'leave' from the daily presentations. Dutchess joined us the first of the year, and Aquamarine and FreeTheHostages began preparing their own layouts and presentations later.)
Once again, if any of you would like to contribute an idea, or write an entire Holiday thread, please let us know as quickly as possible. The schedule for December is filled, for the most part, but some changes could be made to replace a regular feature with a special one if you would like to share your ideas with us.

Two days til' Thanksgiving....still time to try some great recipes for the big dinner. Last year, we featured FR's own chef, carlo3b, the day before Thanksgiving, and he was gracious enough to share some of his favorite holiday foods, including:
"Old Fashion New England Roasted Turkey"
(Orange-Maple Marinated)

"Turkey Stuffing a la Crockpot"

"Holiday Golden Apples and Yams"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Carlo3b - Dad, Chef, Author"
In the above link to last year's thread are many more recipes sprinkled throughout the comments. You might ask Temple Owl and his wife about the "Holiday Golden Apples and Yams" - they couldn't wait to try them!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving, and remember our men and women in uniform who are risking their lives so that we will always have our freedom to be thankful for.
"To God who gives our daily bread
A thankful song we raise,
And pray that he who sends us food
May fill our hearts with praise."
~ Thomas Tallie (1505 - 1585) ~
Thirty days til' Christmas. Got your shopping done yet? :) Tree decorated, lights up, baking done, silver polished, Christmas china out? Uh-huh, me, too. LOL.
Here are links to some of the special Christmas threads we presented last year. With thanks to our guest-writers, the days between Thanksgiving and the New Year were filled with the spirit of Christmas and love.
Gingerbread House Contest (FreeTheHostages)
Holiday Top Ten List Contest (FreeTheHostages)
What Christmas Means to Me (Various Freepers)
Places in the Heart (Molly Pitcher)
Christmas Pets (Billie)
Profile of IssaquahKing (Libertina and Dansangel)
Christmas Music (Aquamarine and Daisyscarlett)
'Twas the Night Before Christmas (Daisyscarlett)
Merry Christmas (Daisyscarlett)
Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer
I am unfortunately receiving a DNS attack through IE. I just switched to another browser.
Why on earth I would be targetted for a DNS is beyond me.
Yes, they are big alright. I am keeping the ones that I think I may use again. Those 'RAT Prez candidates and Soros, etc. It'll save the time of double-work later when/if I do use them - very likely over the next year too, I'd say ! ...
I appreciate your help getting started on the PD software, and the other help you've sent since then.
I kind of like your hostess graphic. It shows what you *really* think of your 'sistahs' and of yourself. :-)
dansy: violent
Aqua: whiner
dutchess: absent-minded
Freezie: gluttonous
Lori: egotistical
Billie: cheerful
Disclaimer: This is strictly Billie's opinion. I hold all the hostesses in the highest esteem and disagree with all the descriptions, especially the one about Billie being cheerful. :-)
But, why? I was just defending the honor of our lovely hostesses against Billie's mocking portrayal. :-)
I'm going to break up this 'sisterhood' even if it kills me...........and it probably will!
This is such a fun and sweet hostess graphic!
We're celebrating Thanksgiving a day early (tomorrow) since Mr. A has to work on Thanksgiving Day. Things are pretty hectic around here...will try to come back later if I can.
Just getting back at you because again I didn't receive your Thanksgiving invitation. The last couple of years I thought it was just an oversight, but it finally occurs to me that it might be intentional. I just don't understand..........it can't be anything I've done or said. :-)
Now, I am having 2 Christmas contest threads this December. I have decided so. Now, the precise nature of the contests is a very closely held secret. (Read: I'm still thinking . . . .)
That sounds like fun Free. Your contest threads are always spectacular! Can't wait! :)
Is that what this is all about? Well, The Thin Man, that's quite simple. You didn't get an invite because it's simply assumed, without the need for invitation, that the turkey is *always* invited to the table.
Billie, shall I sharpen the knives?
