[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

I haven't seen this posted yet re: Houston/Galveston area. I bet they are still on orange alert!
Local - KPRC Click2Houston.com
Paper: Houston, Galveston Identified As Terror Threat Tue Jan 13, 2:33 PM ET Add Local - KPRC Click2Houston.com
Houston and Galveston were two of four cities al-Qaida planned to attack, causing authorities to raise the terror alert level last month, USA Today reported Monday.
The Port of Houston spans 25 miles, and more than 6,400 ships cruise in and out of its waters every year.
The Ship Channel area is among the world's top ports.
"I am not surprised at all," former head of Houston FBI (news - web sites) Don Clark said. " Houston really is a world-class city, and a world-class city has many of the things that terrorists would look to achieve their goals."
During the Christmas and New Year's holidays, the U.S. Coast Guard (news - web sites) called in extra help.
"You could see the extra boats out there. Nothing moved on the channel unless it was escorted. And in some cases, they actually had people on board acting as sea marshals," Coast Guard spokesman Adam Wine said.
Wine said a Coast Guard tugboat captain told him he had never seen security at tight as it was last month in his 20-year career at the Port of Houston.
"Basically, it was the tightest security we have had since World War II," Wine said.
The Port of Houston is the second largest petrochemical producer in the world, the largest in the Americas, and also allows the most foreign cargo to sail its channel.

I suspect this is all disinformation of some sort - one side or the other sowing confusion with their opponents so that they aren't ready for the real blow. That's what I'm thinking. There's too much info there. I'm also unsure of that guy being affiliated with the government. Just doesn't sound likely he would be sharing that much info on public message boards that should probably be classified. I dunno though. This all get more complicated as time goes on. (Proper typing for easier reading ;)

If you read the rest of the posts you will see FNC/Fox News has confirmed these cities as well as Vegas were uner direct threat from 2 AirFrance and one AeroMexico, direct intel and confirmed. These attacks were averted, but guess what your right it is not over yet. This place is a good thread for uncovering things. It's not a joke.

"re how we would respond to WMD attack on Bagdad...The stock market would sure tank that's for sure and I wonder if Bush would lose support. And how many of our soldiers and others would be lost."
I would't worry about the stock market crashing or Bush losing support. But I would worry about the loss of human life. There are more important hings to consider in life than the loss of support of a politician or the paper loss of equities, for crying out loud.

By the way, thanks for the welcome, everyone. Sorry if I came across as rude. I'm just one to strike back when I feel I've been attacked :\. Anyway, thanks again. Take care, all.

However, that having been said I don't think the concerns about the next 4 to 6 weeks are unfounded - far from it. There have been a number of things said by members of al-Qaeda that should cause concerns during this time frame, plus the time period around 2 February and 20 February of this year Ping!

No need for tinfoil hat. No need at all.
As they say: I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Well I would say you are a rather observant soccer Mom :-)
"Oh sh** look what Osama's done THIS time" LOL! I guess I just have a sick sense of humor but that struck me as really funny. Wouldn't you hate to be his sibling and turn on the tv the morning of 9/11 and think "oh great, he's at it again".
they were already placing markers to be called in. In other words, perhaps they were doing a favor here and there for the Saudis in hopes that the Saudis would owe them one. Good assessment. I hadn't thought of it that way. Thanks.

The way FR is now you don't even have to use Html. Just copy the link from your browswer location and paste it into the comment box. As long as you use no other html in that comment then a clickable link will show up automatically.

Could be your dialup. Do you have virus protection and do you use adaware or spybot search and destroy to get rid of spyware ?
