Last time I went to the ER I spent FIVE hours there before being seen. It took them another couple of hours to set up x-rays. I was exhausted by the time I left. All I got was a script for pain med..which I promptly tore up. Can't take the crap because of side effects. Told them that, idiots don't listen, when they think they know it all.

If she had ever received therapies proven to enable the brain to recover, she might be better now.
Why are you still denying that she has not been treated appropriately?
They are learning things about brain damage all the time. There are so many new therapies and technologies. There is always hope!

RGR - LEO had been answered several times - LEA comes up a lot in plain clothes i.e., "are you LEA?" Just another bit of data that may never be used but nice to know.

Many medical schools still administer the oath. In some of them, the medical students who refuse to perform an abortion are harrassed about it, in some they fail the school right there, and in some they have no problem at all. Abortion is sometimes medically necessary to save the woman's life, sometimes it merely cleans up what has already started, and it is often a tragedy. Some military doctors (I retired a few years ago from the Air Force) will happily perform an abortion, and some won't. Personal choice.

What is Coma, including Persistent Vegetative State? A coma is a profound or deep state of unconsciousness. An individual in a state of coma is alive but unable to move or respond to his or her environment. Coma may occur as a complication of an underlying illness, or as a result of injuries, such as head trauma. A persistent vegetative state (commonly, but incorrectly, referred to as brain-death) sometimes follows a coma. Individuals in such a state have lost their thinking abilities and awareness of their surroundings, but retain non-cognitive function and normal sleep patterns. Even though those in a persistent vegetative state lose their higher brain functions, other key functions such as breathing and circulation remain relatively intact. Spontaneous movements may occur, and the eyes may open in response to external stimuli. They may even occasionally grimace, cry, or laugh. Although individuals in a persistent vegetative state may appear somewhat normal, they do not speak and they are unable to respond to commands.
One need only watch the vidoes of Terri to understand that she does not fit this description.
What's more, any person who advocates the state starve and dehydrate a person to death absent informed, written consent when there is conflicting testimony from various family memebers needs their head examined for vegetative growth.

also, were there no FR in 2000 .... FReepers organizing the protests at the VP mansion was a BIG part of the success of the Republican team .. gave the usually weak kneed GOP some backbone!

Jorge "The woman has been in a permanent vegetative state for 13 years."
Just cut it out! If you've seen the video, you know that she is not in a "vegitative" state.
Every report I've seen says that all CREDIBLE Medical experts say Terri is in a permanent vegetive state. With virtually NO HOPE of coming out of it.
I saw the video. And the experts say what we saw is not uncommon for people in vegetative states. To smile, grimace etc.
Do you know more than the experts?
Based on some of your ludicrous posts (this one included), I would argue that it's more likely you've been in a permanent vegitative state for 13 years.
I'm sorry that your arguments so weak.... that you feel the need to resort to personal insults rather than addressing anything I've said.

It looks like the situation has changed and a hero has emerged to force the hospital to stop chattering over being sued and follow the Governor's order; would you please change the headline? She is now being hydrated. The IV is in.

Her hands are atrophied, teeth haven't been cleaned in 10 years... Poor Terri. So thankful the family are there for her.
Pretty ironic that it's CNN that is going to continue coverage on this. FoxNews dropped the ball on this one big time.

A patient who has been clear she wants to feel as little pain as possible at the end of a terminal condition ought to be entitled to that. The nonsense about not giving addictive drugs (or illegal narcotics, for that matter) to the dying is just so immoral. I don't disagree. But there's a difference between keeping someone pain-free and killing them.
You want to take your own life, go for it. People have been doing it since biblical times. Leave healthcare workers out of it and don't turn healing institutions into death factories.
