My it has been a busy night with terri stuff!! I read the first 500, and pray that she is receiving fluid and coming around ...I have yet to find an update on her medical condition. Has there been a spokesperson from the hospital giving an update? I received this email this am after one of the mass mailing campaigns to the florida reps.
Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns regarding Terri
Schiavo. I value your input on this important matter.

During the past year, the Florida House has faced difficult choices in many
areas. We have crafted legislation regarding the budget, healthcare,
workers' compensation, and prescription drug relief for Floridians.
Presently, legislation is being considered to address the victims of legal
dehydration and starvation deaths.

Every Floridian has a right to determine their own treatment, and anyone
who has executed an advanced directive has the right to have his or her
instructions carried out. Where there is no disagreement among family
members, present law does not appear to create reasons for legislative
intervention. However, the Terri Schiavo case raises troubling concerns
that the proposed legislation would address.

The bill passed by the House in Special Session "E" on Monday night would
allow the Governor to issue a moratorium to stop contested legal
dehydration and starving deaths in Florida in certain instances. The
moratorium would give the Legislature time to assess our current law.

With our pledge to protect the most vulnerable, I strongly believe that
someone needs to be a voice for the voiceless like Terri Schiavo.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I will take your comments to heart and
give them careful consideration as we address the issue of contested legal
dehydration and starvation cases.

Very truly yours,
Johnnie Byrd
Speaker

(GOD BLESS THIS GUY!!)

It is refreshing to know there's a politician like Representative Johnny Byrd, isn't it?

Check the links in posts #1072 and #1074. Medical updates provided by her 'husband's' attorney. I don't know how accurate his statements are, but so far, that's all we've got. The 'husband' hasn't even let the medical facilities provide information to her parents over the years, so I doubt there'll be a spokesperson from the hospital.

I'll keep praying!

Maybe now they'll honor her rights as a Catholic and let her priest administer Last Rites (When that time comes)

I'm not thinking of D&C, I said D&E because that's what I meant. A D&E may additionally use curettage. The post I was replying to was speaking of medical students learning a specific procedure. I said that procedure is used to treat miscarriages (and not just perform abortions as was implied). I know what I'm talking about as I have had 2 D&E's due to miscarriages. They do a D&E if the doctor feels you may not have expelled all the fetal/conception tissue because that is a health risk. My 2nd miscarriage I was 3 months pregnant when the baby died, the doctor did a D&E in hospital.

-Good point about communion, they have denied her her right to worship even as she was dying. Sad day indeed when this happened.

Don'tMessWithTexas,

I agree with your "voice of reason." I, too, am getting tired of all the name-calling and attacks. It is hard to get thru it all to find out what is really happening to Terri.

Please people, we are getting tired of your "I am better than you" mentality. A little maturity will be appreciated.

Thanks to all who have come to the aid of Terri.

Either Fox or MSNBC has changed their running news at the bottom and call Terri brain damaged now instead of comatose. About time!

I think he has a true, sick obsession with death and dying.

Oh Felos. Your heart could stop at any moment. It happens every day.

Interesting list. And people say the dims don't stand for anything. Here is a new slogan they can use, it's a gift, it's all theirs:

Ping!

What're you, kidding? These are people who can look at the Bill of Rights and see "right to abortion" and "separation of church and state" but not "right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed." These are folks who can read Marx and see heaven, read Rand and see hell. They can read Buckley and see idiocy, read Garofalo and see genius. They see justice in suicide bombing, and oppression in a protective wall. They see art in pornography, and oppression and hegemony in Hawthorne. They see humanity in Mumia but not in a newborn baby. They romanticize squalor and keen in anguish over a WalMart. Can you really be surprised by this??

Brilliant.

Doctors told my parents I probably would never be able to read or speak again, assuming I even lived.

List of House and Senate voters broken down by Yea and Nay votes with their email addresses. I've already emailed and thanked (or rebuked, as necessary).

My friend had "experts" read some of her tests and sonograms and advised her to get an abortion, because her baby had no head. They ignored the "experts" and had a perfectly normal son, head and all. He plays hockey now as a goalee, and has a fantastic sense of humor.

It's great that they didn't overreact to the experts... although, really... do you need a head to be goalie? ;^)

AOL poll for today's front page (AOL members only, sorry):

Should the comatose woman be kept alive or allowed to die?
Allow her to die 58%
Kept alive 32%
I can't decide! 10%

Should Florida Gov. Bush have ordered her to be kept alive?
No 59%
Yes 32%
I'm not sure 9%

Tried to enable a link, but it just leads to the AOL sign-up page. Any-hoo, if anybody has AOL and wants to FREEP the poll, have at it.

Voting as the lone Republican to go over to the dark side, Rep. Anderson's office is in Holiday (Pasco county).

For those non-Floridians, Holiday is about 20 minutes north of Clearwater on the central gulf coast. A few minutes from my house, but he's not in my district. I sent him an email, anyway.
