JOIN THE TERRI JELLO BRIGADE!!! -- DAY FOUR
Editorial Comment ^ | 18 October 2003 | Robert Drobot, Member, FreeRepublic
Change the way you're running this country. We're watching you, and we don't like the way you're doing business in our name.
Jeb Bush CAN STOP death of TERRI SCHIAVO !!! CALL!!!
http://www.terrisfight.org ^ | pollywog
With Republicans like Jeb, we don't need Democrats to do us in.
Outrageous, you say? How can a mere judge hold more power than the governor, you say? Reality, I say. It's been that way for a while now, while everybody was sleeping. We're no longer a Republic, we are ruled by the Philosopher-Kings of the Judiciary.

There is conflicting reports out now as to whether or not she received it. The site says he was refused the opportunity to give her communion. It seems to me that either way this could be used by Terri's family.
If she was denied the sacraments, that's illegal.
If she took the sacraments and was able to swallow, that would prove something.
I hope their atty is able to do something with this.

I just got this email from a very credible source. Still, I haven't confirmed it. I came to this thread to see if anyone knew more:
It appears that the family priest attempted to give Terri communion about an hour ago and was interferred. He attempted to hold a news conference but the local station, Bay New 9, cut him off.
Please alert those following Terri's fight.
Thank you.

Absolutely! Didn't a federal judge, not Lazzara, say yesterday that he had filed the paperwork for the state court papers to be delivered to him? Whatever happened with that?
To: Ohioan from Florida
That is illegal!
Do you think this mentality comes from letting all the old people die being this is such a big retirement state?

God help us, Terri's 81 year old Catholic priest who came today to give her her Last Rites and Holy Communion was threated with arrest if he dared give her the Holy Eucharist. Well why wasn't he arrested??
He bent the knee to Caesar, preferring his own freedom over her life and soul?
Where are all the "concerned citizens," lining up to be arrested in front of the cameras?
Why is it that the LEFT can ALWAYS find no end of people -- including CELEBRITIES -- willing to get "peacefully arrested" in order to create public outrage?
This is why the left is gaining ground, and we are losing ground.
We are more concerned with our comfort than our cause. We're not willing to trouble ourselves -- and that tells the world that we don't really care.
And if WE don't care, why should they?
I'm not talking about "storming the bastille", like some others have suggested. All that would accomplish would be to discredit Terri's cause.
But for heaven's sake, can't ANYONE rent the clue that the LEFT has mastered for decades????

Supercat, you are making way too much sense! I hope folks haven't missed your two very cogent suggestions.

"Mikey must be beside himself" Yes. Imagine his dismay if God extends Terri's life in spite of him and the courts and she is still alive as his wedding day approaches. Wouldn't that rain on his parade?

Nonsense. The evidence was just a new twist on evidence that had already been presented. Death row inmates introduce "new" evidence in an effort to stall.
No more stalling, at least not in Texas.
The man was not "innocent."
Still stalking me, sinky?
Regardless, your "points" are pointless. You have no way of proving your assertions, since his evidence was not permitted to be considered.
And again, regardless, it's moot -- because the issue isn't whether HIS evidence was what you suggest, but rather, the issue is that there is precedent for denying the potentially innocent due process because of a technicality.
It's one thing to rail against the guilty being set free "on a technicality", as the hardcase "lawnorder" types love to do. It's something entirely different to smugly accept the idea of the innocent being killed "on a technicality."
But this doesn't surprise me, since you're prepared to let this innocent woman be killed on some really shaky technicalities.
Stop nipping at my ankles, or I'll report you.

I thought your point was that if there's new evidence that proves the situation is contrary to the original evidence, justice would prevail. If I misread what you said, I apologize. It's been a rough day. I've had to hit the nitro once so far, and I don't need to do that very often.

Excellent and very important questions. The future direction of our country may depend on the answers.
To: Ohioan from Florida
Well that is going to be an issue as there are more older folks than younger ones in the years ahead.
Eventually with the young having to flip the bill on the old, the right to die might become involuntary at some point.

There are understandable reasons for the rules about when evidence must be introduced, but these rules can sometimes be abused by people who withhold evidence until it will no longer do any good (as is alleged to have happened with some of Terri's medical records in the extant case). Perhaps there needs to be some sort of adjustment to the rules? Definitely.
When I grew up, the "sense of the nation" was that it's better for ten guilty to walk free, than for one innocent to hang.
Now, we've embraced a cold, brutal, soviet style "justice", in which the "letter of the law" has replaced any semblance of due process for the accused.
God help us for what we've become...

Only half. She still has not, from what I've read, received the Blood. Now we wonder if she even received the Host.
I certainly hope she got to.
