More wondering about logistics:

Does the home team provide the champagne for whoever wins, or does the visiting team have to send someone out the the liquor store before the game?

I guess that they had boxes of "National League Champion" T-shirts for sales at the concession stands in Wrigley. The fans were lining up and begging the attendants to sell them to them. I guess they are rags by now.

Before the first pitch I want to apologize to Nomar for all the Mrs. Hamm remarks. He needs all the good vibes he can get tonight.

Homers, homers, I have much
Back are homers in the clutch

I do hit them in the park
I do hit them on the mark

I do hit them in the gap
I do hit them in my cap

I do hit them worth a damn
I do hit them, NOMAR I am

They just use whatever falls out of Ted Kennedy's pockets.

"Nervous? You betcha."

Those TV close-ups show the managers and players twitching to beat the band. Sure, a few portray calm. But you can bet a case of Sam Adams they're nervous, too. I cannot think of any other game that pits mini-bastions of time against split seconds with such implications. And look how that Cubs thing turned! This game is where the fat lady began her career.
