"He thinks that he is going to influence these suburban voters by persuading them that the Democratic party is too far left. But in going as far as he's gone and he will go he may persuade them that we can't take four more years of this," Axelrod said.

"He wants to elevate these four young members of Congress to make them the emblem of the Democratic party and he wants to be so outrageous about it that he forces all Democrats to embrace them, to support the argument that they are the iconic figures in the party and in the bargain, he riles up his base with nativist language," Axelrod said to host Anderson Cooper. "The irony, Peter Baker wrote a great piece in the 'Times' today about how ironic it is that the president who was deeply critical of the country even in his inaugural address and who said we're not any different than Russia in the way we approach human rights."
"Apparently, he's like a self-hating America hater," Axelrod quipped. "Now he's attacking people for saying there are things wrong in our country that need to be addressed. But I just have to take a step back as a strategist and say I recognize what he's doing and a lot of what he does is intuitive, it's not mapped out. But it's worked for him and he thinks this will work for him."

You can just tell that the Dem leadership in on their last rung. Any more “Squad” types in the House, and they will sweep Nance and Co. out immediately. I wouldn’t even be shocked if she is primaried in 2020.
The only reason why Chuckie in the Senate is safely laying low is because they arent in the majority, and it is unlikely that any AOC’s will ever win Senate seats.
The Mid-terms were a result of two things.
Many Republicans in Congress retired and were replaced by Dems.
The ‘California Strategy’ worked. They took over the entire state and the congressional delegation with illegals’ votes and Ballot Harvesting.................
Their pocketbook? That’s precisely why the Dems are offering free everything to every group in their “base.” The dumb clucks think that if they vote Dem, the free stuff will start rolling in and it’ll be even better because it will be taken away from someone else (the “rich” or “whites”) and they won’t even have to pretend to work for it.
And by dumb clucks I don’t mean only the ghetto and illegal immigrant base, but the upper middle class college students who want somebody else to pay their student loans.
The Dems understand this pocketbook thing all too well. It used to be called vote buying but now it’s called social justice...
I think the headline is deceptive. Axelrod seems to be saying this is a ploy by the “America-hating Trump” that will fail.

And it was the prototype. They stole a Governor, 2 or 3 Senate seats, 20+ House and countless important down ballot races. They almost got 2 more Governor and 1 more Senate seat. The GOP did nothing.
I’d say that 30 GOPe reps following the punk, Paul Ryan, into retirement and giving up a 95% incumbent reelection advantage had an effect too.
And (let’s be honest) the Republican mid-term slate in 2018 was somewhat less than inspiring. One can be a big fan of Trump but not loyal enough to the Republican Party as a whole to bother showing up to vote for a Martha McSally. I expect Trump will bring out millions who haven’t voted in years to support him in 2020. Whether they bother to vote for down-ballot GOP candidates is another matter.

Axelrod is lying (of course). He is grossly distorting the remarks being made by the squad - they use phrases like "America is rotten", etc. That is not identifying problems - it is calling for throwing the whole country in the trash bin and starting over.
President Trump is being careful to aim his remarks against their behavior. The dems are mad because they have to defend indefensible, voluntary behavior from the four.
