"The stench of failure hangs over [the] White House. The people know it, judging by the opinion polls, Corporate titans know it." The President "seems to concede some major misjudgments. . . . What is lacking is any clear sense of direction."
"What we are witnessing," says David Broder, is a "one-year phenomenon" of a president who is "more spectator than leader." As the Middle East is in chaos, the president---photographed in [golf] clothes, [is] heading off for a weekend at [Mar-a-Lago]. At some point down the road, the phasing out of the [Trump] presidency will confront the Republican Party with an awkward but vital choice of its future leadership [and good leaders are] working together to fill the vacuum of leadership that [Trump's] phaseout has left."
The "White House Staff [is] United by Grim . . . Reality," and the budget proposal according to one aide will have "the half-life of half an hour." Trump's "most cherished goals" cannot be reconciled. According to one unnamed staffer, "the cold, grey light of dawn is breaking."
Already the President's chief advisors are considering tax increases as part of an "overall strategy" on taxes.
OH WAIT. FOOLED YA! None of these stories are about Trump. They are all about Ronald Reagan. I just substituted Trump's name. Story 1, the "Failing Presidency," is from January 9, 1983 New York Slimes. Broder is quoted in the January 12, 1983 WaCompost. The "Grim Economic Reality" is Lou Cannon in the WaCompost, January 9, 1983, and "Tax Increases" is David Hoffman in the WaCompost, Jan. 9, 1983.
Liars gonna lie.
Nicely played!
*applause*
I will probably steal part of it and send it as an LTTE —
with no attribution to you of course ;)
That was good.
Well played (us that is!) LS!

Point well taken, Larry. You’ve proven that leftard chumps never change, and neither does their boilerplate message.
No matter how many times they’re proven wrong, the left soldiers on toward the darkness.
If you haven’t, yet, you really should go and post this over on reddit/the_donald.
Srs bz. doo eet!
I knew I could count on you, LS.
this is beyond awesome!!
Larry...If people had not recognized you, I would say that there would be flaming posts all over this place...LOL...
Quite often, some in here post from the headline without reading...
Oh yeah, the way I recall it from the willing fakers with their ‘nattering nabobs of negativity’ of yesteryear.
This is the economic illiterate who once famously wrote in one of his increasingly deluded columns: "There is no such thing as 'the deficit.' Because assets must equal liabilities, the budget is always really balanced, whether Republicans trying to cut the safety net want to admit it or not."
In those days, George Will had not yet gone off his rocker, and when Broder brought his novel economic theory to a roundtable discussion, Will sarcastically noted in response, "Right. That's why no business has ever failed." To my knowledge Broder's bright idea died on the table before his eyes, and he never brought it up again.
#FakeNews, as your post affirms, is nothing new.
You had me for a minute there!
Well played sir! You should post that to “The Donald” on Reddit and voat.co/v/politics
Excellent!
What a great dose of perspective, for those who think the Democrat Media was ever anything but a bunch of propaganda-spewing liars...
It’s funny that you wrote this. I have been telling my two older sons that this is nothing new. They all treated Reagan the same way.
I was wondering if he'd risen from the crypt for the occasion...whether "The power of Trump" compelled him!
