Over the Memorial Day Weekend, Bill Kristol doubled down on his betrayal of this country with a pair of tweets: Just a heads up over this holiday weekend: There will be an independent candidate an impressive one, with a strong team and a real chance, Kristol tweeted.
He also said, Those accused of betraying GOP by opposing Trump can take heart from P. Henry 251 years ago today: If this be treason, make the most of it!
This fatuous invocation of an American patriot to justify the betrayal typifies the arrogant disregard for political realities shared by all those involved in a defection that could produce even greater disasters than the Obama eras 400,000 deaths by jihad and 20 million refugees across the Middle East....

We had a choice of 16 R candidates. One of them (not my first preference) has one the contest. What does young Kristol think he’s doing now!? My speculation: he’s shilling to boost sales of his magazine, the one he inherited and ruined by this kind of extremist biased krap.
Maybe he will “run” Glenn Beck for President (at least on the cover of Nat. Review), or?
It is a clear indication that the GOPe wants to maintain the status quo, to say in office. They are the treasonous traitors!!
Hope Kristol gets it good — from all sides. Even if he should come around, he is forever on my ‘get lost’ list.
Bloomberg would be interesting.
Someone mention Ron Paul.
Ryan and Romney are speculated, but I doubt it is any of these.
Kristol is probably bluffing.
He’s as insane as Glenn Beck...they both need to go into a ‘padded’ cell...
Patrick Henry also said give me liberty or give me death. This guy has some set on him with this smarmy arrogance.
Well, two more:
1: One loves the country and the other does not; and
2: One has a record of accomplishments and the other does not.
Love David Horowitz
How much are the anti America Open Border thugs paying this butt wipe to do this?
I wondered about Bloomberg as well. Could very well be.
I can say that the NeverTrump people on twitter have been cut in half, most of them are now NeverHillary..of course you will always have some who will never vote for Trump..I see on twitter what their agenda is, they call Trump a racist for being “Anti Immigrant” and are for Syrian Refugees coming to America so there ya go, basically the liberal platform
In the spring of 1765, the recently enacted Stamp Act was the prime topic of political conversation in the American colonies. In Virginia, the current session of the House of Burgesses was drawing to a close and many of the delegates had already headed for home. Patrick Henry, who had held his seat for only a matter of days, celebrated his twenty-ninth birthday on May 29 by offering a series of resolutions related to the current crisis. Much of what he proposed was familiar to his colleagues:
American colonists had transported British rights to North America at the time of their immigration. Those rights had twice been confirmed in Virginias royal charters.
The right to be taxed by representatives of ones own choosing was one of the most fundamental British liberties. Patrick Henry, however, included an additional idea that raised many eyebrows and provided a direct challenge to Parliaments authority:
Only colonial assemblies had the right to impose taxes on their constituents and that right could not be assigned to any other body.
On May 30, Henry gave his maiden speech in the assembly and defended his resolutions. He expanded the scope of his criticism to include not only Parliament, but the king as well. Speaking of George III, he stated that, Caesar had his Brutus, Charles the First his Cromwell and George the Third ." At that point he was interrupted by cries of Treason!" from delegates who easily recognized the reference to assassinated leaders. Henry paused briefly, then calmly finished his sentence: ...may profit by their example. If this be treason, make the most of it."
Henry later apologized to the assembly and expressed his loyalty to the king. Nevertheless, the Resolves were adopted by a badly split House of Burgesses and over the next few weeks were circulated through the colonies in various newspapers. The fact that conservative politicians quickly expunged the final resolution from the record went largely unnoticed and Virginia and Henry were widely extolled for their defense of American rights.
Bottom line, is his reference is so out of context to what Bill Kristol is doing that his reference is disingenuous.
I think not. A third-party candidate who is presented as a "reasonable" (non-scary) outsider would draw votes from Trump, not from Hillary. Such a candidate could draw just enough votes from Trump to throw the election to Hillary. And that's their goal anyway.
Sure, the assumption that more candidates will hurt Trump is wrong. Trump voters have specific reasons for going for Trump. This will probably show how much of a uniparty the government has actually become. Moreover, we know how Trump plays in a debate with multiple candidates, we don’t know how he’ll play one on one yet. So, to add the Libertarian and this “interdependent” (Who obviously will be a neocons type) will end up helping Trump. Morevoer, I suspect Hillary’s strategy is planed to perfection 1v1 but how about with 4 candidates? It would absolutely be hilarious if after the election and Trump wins it is shown conclusively that without a strong Libertarian candidate and the official uniparty candidate Trump could not have won. Trump should run against the uniparty anyways. Attack the Paul Ryan’s of the world. Who cares about “unifying”
Krystol is suffering from dementia.
His ‘moderate’ rag is tanking.
Obama enjoys it though.
If the GOP establishment wants to maintain any element of credibility (if there is any left) they need to step in and stop this self-interested and petulant jerk. Clearly this is all about him loosing stature.
OK!
"Donald Trump is epically unprepared to be president. He has no realistic policies, no advisers, no capacity to learn. His vast narcissism makes him a closed fortress. He doesnt know what he doesnt know and hes uninterested in finding out. He insults the office Abraham Lincoln once occupied by running for it with less preparation than most of us would undertake to buy a sofa He is a childish man running for a job that requires maturity. He is an insecure boasting little boy whose desires were somehow arrested at age 12." - David Brooks
Why are Trump's critics claiming that he has "no capacity to learn" when they must know that he went to the Wharton School of Finance? That's not a picnic in the park. He may not have much experience and he's certainly not a policy wonk, but he is very capable of learning.
I think that he will surprise some of these critics in the debates.
I don’t think Kristol would want Ron Paul, but then again if his only purpose is to thwart Trump then I guess he is desperate to find someone (since his initial contacts showed no interest at all) and would now take anybody that might be able to garner votes.
That’s hilarious. Does anyone think of Romney or Ryan was in the primary they wouldn’t have got stomped like the rest of them. Trump was winning 2012 polls as well.As I said before, Trump should really got after everyone, elected Republicans and Democrats alike and just say that it’s all the same crap. I think he just might and that’s why he says things like, “we don’t have to unify in the traditional sense”. Shouldn’t be too hard to find policies where people like Ryan are closer to Hilary than to Trump. He should hit them both for them
