Jeff Sessions is on Donald Trump's shortlist for a potential vice presidential running mate, according to reports.
The New York Post said Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has narrowed down his list of potential running mates. The list includes Sessions, Alabama's junior Senator, as well as a retired general and a Washington lawmaker.
Sessions, the first Senator to endorse Trump, is advising him on foreign policy and immigration matters...

yeah. gotcha. conservatism is those 5 things.
Rumor about Brown (Scott Brown?) was false then?
OK, now I’ll go read the article.
I think Sessions would be perfect. Trump’s Cheney.
There is a lot to like about Jeff Sessions, but he’s kind of long in the tooth. Bob Corker would do nothing for me.
As for Michael Flynn, I’ve been hearing rumors about a retired general being chosen. Flynn has great potential, and he certainly has impressive national security credentials. I’d need to know more about him, though.
On one level I would too. But, on the other hand we need Sessions in the Senate.
As VP Sessions would preside over the Senate and even be the tiebreaker if needed.
As provided in Article I, Section 3, Clause 4 of the United States Constitution: The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.
Senator Sessions would be much more important to the Senate as the Vice President.
Trump picked Sessions from day one. Everything else has been drama made up for the media.
as vice presidet the VP whoever he is would be a team player. His vote would be no different than anyone else Trump chooses. He has been a real leader in the Senate and should remain there I do not think he can be replaced.
Psyops 101.
I would prefer Sessions for Majority leader.
The FBI is looking at Corker’s finances.
That’s
A)Another reason not to want Corker
B)Possibly a troubling sign that he is indeed the behind the scenes frontrunner, the probe could be politically motivated for that reason
Corker would be an uninspired, stinky choice.
Flynn is a registered Marxist-Leninist (democrat) and has described himself “as centrist as possible”. I didn’t like the idea of some random, non-political General as Vice President, but one that isn’t even a Republican? Unacceptable. Give me a break. He doesn’t have any “potential” other than the potential to p**s me off and the potential to make us wish that it was Corker instead.
Age aside, Sessions is far far FAR and away the best choice of those 3, bar none. He could be 104 years old and he would STILL be FAR better than Corker and FAAAAAARRR better than a DEMOCRAT like Flynn.
Who was the last VP pick to accomplish that task?
I'm thinking Lyndon Johnson but I could be wrong.
I know Kasich will not be adored by FReepers for obvious reasons but with the GOP-e hesitant to get on board, this solidifies the party and we still need a unified party to beat the Dems. It’s the same thing Reagan did with GHWB - someone the GOP-e of that day thought was needed to “rein in” Reagan. End result, the charismatic Reagan won in a landslide and Bush was really a non-factor for eight years. The only error was handing Bush the mantle when Reagan had to leave.
Flynn is a registered Democrat? He ought to know better in this day and age.
Other than his age, Sessions would be a solid choice. Marsha Blackburn still interests me as a running mate. Perhaps Jan Brewer, if she’s popular in her home state.
Sarah Palin for Vice President!
I cannot imagine Corker. Not with his disastrous Iran bill.
I told you what I think of Brewer, older than Sessions, raised taxes, I still remember DJ calling her a “gutless (witch)” for vetoing that religious freedom bill.
There are a whole heap of women I would consider long before her, including Blackburn.
