ANALYSIS: Paul Ryan Battling Donald Trump for Soul of Republican Party
CNN ^ | 05/06/2016 | Rick Klein

Donald Trump has used tweets to insult women and ethnic groups, and to drive news cycles over everything from his late-night TV choices to his midday food options.

But he escalated his feud this morning with House Speaker Paul Ryan in a profound way, with implications and ramifications that extend far beyond November.

“Paul Ryan said that I inherited something very special, the Republican Party,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Wrong, I didn't inherit it, I won it with millions of voters!”

On a basic level, Trump is right. He stands now as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee because of millions of the Republican Party’s own voters, and in spite of, almost to a man and woman, the party’s leadership.

It has been said that Conservatives are just Liberals who have been mugged, and now it can be said that the Tea Party is made up of Republicans who have been mugged by this Republican led Congress.

When Paul Ryan’s 2013 budget robbed our Veteran’s retirement benefits and gave the funding to illegal aliens, he drove every Veteran I know out of the Republican Party and into the Tea Party or into Independent status. Paul Ryan has caused Veterans throughout this country to unite in an effort to rid Congress of its incumbents whoever they are, and in the coming Primaries, we will only support Republicans who run against incumbents.

Veterans have known all along that Democrats didn’t represent us in Congress, but Paul Ryan and the current Republican led Congress have revealed they are no different than Democrats, and we will do everything we can do to eliminate them in the coming Primaries.

Trump said it well.

He has the support of millions of Republican voters. That should count for something.

When a company disdains its real owners, the shareholders, and company management runs it for the exclusive benefit of the managers, then it’s time for shareholders to enlist an outside white knight to conduct a hostile takeover, and purge those managers.

When a party leadership has contempt for the registered Republicans, and run the party to facilitate their own insider deal making, it is similarly time for them to be turned out.

I seriously doubt if Ryan is Cantorized that they would make his replacement Speaker, they will elect someone else more senior.

Ryan’s an idiot who’s probably just realized that he insulted his new boss. He’s got about ten minutes to get his head right before President Trump arrives with the gloves off.

Paul Ryan Battling Donald Trump for Soul of Republican Party
******************************

Ryan knows that the GOP sold its soul to the Cheap Labor Express years ago.
He is one of the bought ones.
He needs to be Cantorized before he can give the country away.

The way the luminaries of the party are acting, they fully intend to throw the election to Hillary if they can.

Newt Gingrich may have made the most insightful observation so far, as reported on the Fox Radio web site:
"“I don’t think of Trump as a traditional conservative but I think what Trump is, is an anti-left, anti-political correctness, anti-stupidity American nationalist. I think he may do more to break up the left than any conservative in our lifetime except maybe Reagan.” - -Newt Gingrich on if Trump is a conservative
Further, prior to the 2012 election fiasco involving the Romney candidacy, one of my own posts here on FreeRepublic was as follows:
"Romney will lose to Obama, because he fits right into the narrative of the so-called "progressives" and becomes their perfect opponent.

If these "GOP establishment" types, using the Left's tactics, force a Romney candidacy, then they must be held accountable for the consequences, including the loss of liberty for their posterity.

The Fall campaign will be a battle of ideas. Romney is no ideas warrior.

Obama understands the foundations of his ideology, and he understands how to frame those ideas in a manner that is misleading and appealing to those whom he wishes to enslave to government.

Romney shows no capacity for understanding nor articulating the ideas essential to liberty, and the way he frames what he does understand does not excite passion.

Oh, how we need a Jefferson or an Adams!

Sadly, that prediction proved to be true.

Even sadder, however, is the fact that now, in the Year 2016, the very man who failed to inspire America's citizens to reject the false ideas of progressive oppression and political correctness, along with his running mate who, likewise, did not use his elected office to effectively stop the Obama programs to degrade our freedom--those two men now reject the consequences they and the rest of the GOP-E brought about.

Gingrich, in his comments (above), may be on to something. Perhaps "the People's" visceral reaction to the loss of freedom and national standing their elected GOP representatives and Senators allowed to happen has become so strong that, without focusing on the philosophical ideas underlying that freedom, they chose a potential nominee who will shake up the status quo and force their representatives to bend their will to that of their bosses, "the People," just as the Founders and Framers of the Constitution intended.

“The way the luminaries of the party are acting, they fully intend to throw the election to Hillary if they can.”

I hear ya, but it’s a temporary form of insanity, and it’s only a small number of people we’re talking about; even if they do wield an inordinate amount of control over our party and our government.

Truth is, if they really did hold the power they think they do, they wouldn’t all be screaming right now. They’d be calmly and quietly taking Trump apart, brick by brick, behind the scenes. Their hair is on fire, because they know he’s already assumed control, and that he’s coming for their worthless hides.

This fool shouldn’t even be Speaker. I don’t know too many who supported his taking over of that post.

Case in point. T he Republican Party is a federation of autonomous state parties, many of which feel no allegiance to Trump at this time. It is through their efforts that his name will appear at the head of he ticket. Whatever he thinks, right now has has a lot in common with the guy who obtains a McDonald’s franchise.

It is totally naive not to think that Trump does not need their support. Ryan’s timing was perfect. Which is why Trump is meeting with him.
