Trump Should Drop Out if He Doesn't Get Majority in New York, Cruz Campaign Manager Says
ABC News ^ | April 7, 2016 | Jordyn Phelps

Ted Cruz’s campaign manager is calling on GOP frontrunner Donald Trump to drop out of the race if he fails to clinch a majority in his home state primary later this month.

“If he doesn’t get over 50 percent, he should probably consider dropping out, like everyone else has when they don’t win their home state in a dramatic fashion,” Cruz campaign manager Jeff Roe said in an interview on ABC News’ “Powerhouse Politics” podcast Thursday.

While quipping that he doesn’t expect the GOP frontrunner to take his advice, Roe also acknowledged that Trump is the “huge favorite” headed into the New York primary and that it is an “away game” for Cruz, who did little to invite the New York vote when earlier in the campaign cycle he criticized Trump for having “New York values.”

“I’m assuming Donald is very strong in his home state,” Roe said.

Still, Roe said the campaign sees a path for Cruz to walk away with at least some delegates from the Empire State...

I think this was a statement meant to poke at Trump and elicit a reaction—Cruz needs another “bombshell” to bring down Trump—without a nice new scandal the 24/7 media bashing gets old.

What is more interesting is Cruz could not get half the people who put him in the Senate just 2 years ago to vote for him. Once his Canadian citizenship fiasco came out ... many Texans spit him out of their mouth.

Yep. It will be interesting to see if Jeb Jr. runs against Cruz in 2018. That is shaping up to be a rough campaign for TPA Teddy. He’s looking more and more like a one term Senator.

OMG This is getting ridiculous.

Mr. I have hundreds less votes than you tells everybody else to get out so he can be the nominee.

Pathetic. At one time I thought Ted was a man of integrity. No longer

Didn’t realize that Cruz didn’t come clean about his Canuck connection until after he won his senate seat?

He’s looking like Rubio here in Florida, dead end politician.

All Independents were shut out when attempting to vote in the AZ Presidential Preference Election, because- there were no Independent candidates to vote for, even though, thousands upon thousands of Independents lined up to vote. The election was closed in the sense that only party faithful could vote for party faithful candidates. Make sense?

YADA YADA YADA, Cruz evil, Trump savior, Cruz liar, Trump truthteller, for criminies sake I wish people would get a new drum, I am sure that I’m not the only who has gone tone deaf to the monotonous beat. It would be refreshing to see some something posted about both Trump and Cruz that wasn’t about character assassination or unfounded gossip and lies, God knows I’m sick of it and only a unthinking little automaton would believe it would sway someone’s opinion.

Yes, he should have dropped out of the race, at the latest after March 15 when it became impossible for him to get a majority. He should have thrown in with Trump at that point, unless he actually favors the establishment over Trump, in which case, he should do exactly what he has done these past few weeks.

Why doesn’t ted just cut to the chase and tell everyone including Hillary to get out. Although he still may have trouble winning.

I can’t wait for the primary ends no matter who ends up with the nomination between the two.

Trump is well on pace to get a majority here, with Cruz possibly finishing LAST.

Trump came in last in Utah, just before WI.

If Trump gets the nomination I will vote for him, just like I held my nose and voted for Romney in 2012 and McCain in 2008. I wish I could find some reason to believe that Trump is more conservative than Romney or McCain, but I cannot.

Regardless, Trump is without question far preferable to the left-wing Democrat alternatives. I honestly do not know how our Republic can survive four more years of Democrat rule.

The #NeverTrump and #OnlyTrump rhetoric is going to do us in.

Here on FR, we have a constant barrage of Trump supporters saying that they will never vote for Cruz and Cruz supporters saying that they will never vote for Trump. We are going to have to figure out some way to unite behind whoever wins the nomination, whether it is Trump or Cruz, or all we can look forward to is at least 4 years of President Hillary.

I agree with you, I have not found the need to lock myself to Cruz or Trump, if the nomination isn’t locked before the California primary, I will have to. I too will vote for the nominee, as long as it is Trump or Cruz, or Cruz or Trump, if they try to foist someone else on us I make no promises.

Hey man how are you doing down there in the Republic of Arpaio?

I’m still here in the Mi. I think Trump will clinch the 1237 in California but that the GOP will STILL try some crap. Crap might mean a bullet, who knows.

ANywayz just wanted to say hi and stay in touch
