BREAKING: Romney’s campaign finance accounts reactivated for 2016 race
Christian News ^ | March 3, 2016

Posted on 03/06/2016 6:04:43 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

New information is surfacing about Mitt Romney and his 2016 plans following the 2012 presidential candidate's nationally-covered speech on Thursday morning.

The former Mass. Governor and Republican nominee for President spoke out against Donald Trump, calling the Republican front-runner a "phony" and "fraud." He urged Republicans to unite behind another candidate, yet declined to indicate which candidate he would be supporting.

An in-depth look at Romney's campaign finance activity, however, shows that the former candidate may be gearing up to take another shot at the White House.

In late January and early February of 2016, Romney's campaign finance entities, which by law are subject to FEC regulations, were both reactivated with amended campaign statements.

FEC records indicate that Romney's former campaign committee, Romney for President, and Romney's affiliated PAC, Romney Victory Fund, were both reactivated earlier this year, making them legally able to solicit donations and organize for his presidential campaign.

The above FEC documents can be found on the FEC websites here and here.

The Christian Times Newspaper spoke with several campaign finance professionals and campaign finance attorneys to further understand this move.

One told us that Romney "would only be making these changes" if he in fact "was going to run for President in 2016."

Another, a former McCain finance staffer indicated that this evidence shows "without a doubt" that Romney has plans to run as a Republican this year.

In the days and weeks following Romney's Trump-bashing, it will be interesting to see whether or not the 2012 candidate makes any further moves to run in 2016.

So on television they made Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich agree to support the GOP nominee. And they acted like they were talking about Trump.

But now we know this was all set in place already.
Chills the blood.

You are absolutely correct about ruining it for all if Trump can pull it off as a 3rd. If that happens, that’s the way I’m voting, but Trump being the R nominee would make the odds far more favorable for his win. Otherwise we’re looking at a repeat of ‘92 and a Clinton probably wins again because of a 3rd party candidate.

And fox news asked the other candidates to state that they would support “the GOP nominee”

That may have been about Romney, not Trump.

Rush ignores everything regarding Cruz. He just skips on by any controversy.

I've googled Cruz implies/says Trump is racist, Cruz, Trump, KKK, nothing.

All I've found is Cruz commenting that racists groups are making rob calls on Trumps behalf warning people not to vote for a Cuban.

So you'll have to substantiate your claim.

Won’t need to draw that many votes from Trump or Cruz to give it to Hillary or Bernie.

This was done over a month ago as I’m sure Mitt was considering running. He could’ve reconsidered a personal run since then. This should be aired, though.

But Trump does have some evangelical backing including Jerry Farwell JR. Franklin Graham, although he has not endorsed has come to Trump’s defense several times. Most recently with Pope Francis and comments about the border wall. I guess they realize that deep down, we are all sinners.

Would it be too difficult to wait until that actually happens before condemning Cruz for it?

Romney will pull more from Hillary than Trump or Cruz these people are complete IDIOTS!!!! He CAN NOT jump on the pubbie ticket, he HAS to go 3rd party, after making Trump take a PLEDGE???? are THESE ASSHATS KIDDING ME????

Nope. Romney can go on the GOP ticket if nobody gets 1,200 delegates and we have a “brokered” GOP convention. If Cruz peels off enough delegates from Trump that will happen.

I heard a talk show host recently explain the GOPe actions.
They’ve lost all the presidential elections in the past 20 years except Bush 2. They are used to losing and being the barely opposing party.
But they are terrified of losing control of the party and the base, which is why they are fighting Trump’s likely takeover of it.

It is rather telling that they are resigned to second place and being just less left than the liberals, instead of fighting for and actively supporting the evangelicals, the working class whites and Tea Party that are their base, the people that they keep making promises to before dissing the people and calling them morons/racists/sexists/evil nationalists/stupid rednecks/flyover country.

They don’t want to win nationally, just comfortably control their opposition corner, because for years the true conservative core had no where else to go. And now they can - to Trump’s camp, to a guy who will truly fight. Cruz, likely, too.

You can see it when the Social Justice Warriors are kicked out of Trump rallies while Sanders gave Black Lives Matter the floor when they intruded. You see it in Milo Yianopolis tour videos in the past few weeks where the audience chants Trump’s name to shout down the SJWs - and WINS. He’s become a rallying cry for the people tired of being demonized for their demographics, their religion, etc.

My husband agrees with you.
Me too I guess...Trump must have them scared out of their minds. He has the money and following to break away and win.

Did you watch the last GOP debate?

Don't be an idiot.

I was suggesting that if Mitt wanted to try to win by delegate count short of a brokered convention, he could only do it by aligning with Cruz. If Cruz is a GOPe candidate as some suggests, that is what will happen.

Personally I think it would be a nightmare.
