New information is surfacing about Mitt Romney and his 2016 plans following the 2012 presidential candidate's nationally-covered speech on Thursday morning.
The former Mass. Governor and Republican nominee for President spoke out against Donald Trump, calling the Republican front-runner a "phony" and "fraud." He urged Republicans to unite behind another candidate, yet declined to indicate which candidate he would be supporting.
An in-depth look at Romney's campaign finance activity, however, shows that the former candidate may be gearing up to take another shot at the White House.
In late January and early February of 2016, Romney's campaign finance entities, which by law are subject to FEC regulations, were both reactivated with amended campaign statements.
FEC records indicate that Romney's former campaign committee, Romney for President, and Romney's affiliated PAC, Romney Victory Fund, were both reactivated earlier this year, making them legally able to solicit donations and organize for his presidential campaign.

The Christian Times Newspaper spoke with several campaign finance professionals and campaign finance attorneys to further understand this move.
One told us that Romney "would only be making these changes" if he in fact "was going to run for President in 2016."
Another, a former McCain finance staffer indicated that this evidence shows "without a doubt" that Romney has plans to run as a Republican this year.
In the days and weeks following Romney's Trump-bashing, it will be interesting to see whether or not the 2012 candidate makes any further moves to run in 2016.

You are so right. Evangelicals are not in vogue. Trump is drawing gays, liberals, indies...he is our best chance..
Trump is not a social conservative but he is there for what really matters.
Plus he can be moderate, keep planned parenthood but stop them from doing abortions. And Trump has charisma. Cruz has none.

Support for Mitt would be tepid at best.
BUT, if the establishment's plan is to stop Trump at all costs, Mitt would need a lot of delegates to try to catch up if a brokered convention were to be convened.
There's only one place to get that many delegates, enough to even give him a chance ... CRUZ!
If I were coming in at this point as Mitt, I'd make my alliance with Cruz.
How does Romney/Cruz sound to everyone?
If Cruz is actually a stealth GOPe candidate, then that's what we'll see.

I been warning of a Romney GOPe scenario for weeks, I am saddened that I may be proved correct—wish people might have listened to me, but instead, Cruz supporters hissed and snarled at me or ignored me when I suggested it.
Exactly WHAT have they been hiding under those tables that they don’t want the tax-payers and patriots to ever know?
I live in Texas and I knew. I think most people who follow politics knew. Most people know now and he won the Texas primary very convincingly just a while ago, didn’t he?
Given that at this very moment Ted Cruz is parroting Romney’s viscous smears it’s not difficult to decipher who he stands with. I’ll buy you a clue: it’s not us.

Embarrassed to say I must have missed this concerning Cruz. If he’s parroting Romney, that is truly a sad, pathetic spectacle...especially for a guy who referred to Romney as the “Mushy Middle.”
Does Cruz not understand, the GOPe have more venom for him than even Trump? Does he not understand, his support of Romney will seal his own fate in his run?
It will be interesting to see how Rush spins this on Monday for Cruz.
No offense, I know Cruz is your guy... But if we don’t unite now, somehow... this thing might go sideways and end up in the ditch.
And if we don’t unite now the hysteria will just build and Trump will get stuck in the quick sand unable to get to 1,200 delegates. Then it’s Hello Mittens. Our “consolation” price will be VP Cruz.
As soon as Hillary has the Dem nom wrapped up we will see an Operation Chaos like we’ve never seen. Millions of Dems will pour into GOP primaries to vote against “racist” Trump and for their preferred candidate: Ted Cruz. Divided conservatives (again) = Brokered convention. Book it.

Maybe he actually wants Hillary—he sure didn’t fight when he ran against barry. Elites want elites and the Status Quo to continue—the R and D designation are secondary :(
They were in place waiting for super Tuesday to see who the frontrunner was to attack.
Maybe Cruz wants to be Romney’s VP
Rush ignores everything regarding Cruz. He just skips on by any controversy.
