Ted Cruz is going for the kill shot.
Cruz's aides and allies are preparing an aggressive effort to keep Marco Rubio from winning his home state of Florida on March 15, a blow they hope would render Rubio's path to the GOP nomination unimaginable and force him to withdraw.
A Rubio loss, Cruz's orbit believes, would then set up the two-man race with Donald Trump they believe they are destined for -- and absolutely need -- to win.
"Florida's a burning dumpster fire for Marco Rubio," said Cruz spokesman Ron Nehring. "If he doesn't win his own state, it's hard to rationalize going forward."
The strategy is not without risk: A Trump victory in Florida puts him 99 delegates closer to clinching the GOP nomination, weakening rivals' hopes of keeping him from reaching the delegate threshold and then defeating him at a brokered convention. And keeping Rubio from climbing is likely to cost millions of dollars....

Always sucks when you’re down to a hail Mary this early in the game. Trump has destroyed everyone else, Ted’s just postponing the inevitable. Can’t wait to see Ted try and compete up here in the mid-Atlantic. He’ll be lucky to get 30% in a 2 man race.
Trump has Rubio down big and I believe Cruz sees one chance to knock Rubio out. But to whom would Rubio’s voters go? I don’t know.

Sounds like misinformation from the Rubio campaign to me. His wife knows about his mistresses but doesn't care as long as he provides for her and the kids? I don't buy that for a second. If the article talked about Rubio’s MResses then maybe?

I understand the dynamic very well. Having been an athlete many moons ago, you learn that even your own teammates are more concerned with themselves than the team. Every ex-pitcher knows that your fellow staff members are all rooting against you when you take the hill. The perfect season is a sting of shutouts while the other guys take a beating. Cruz can’t help himself, he is human after all. He will go hard in Florida and Ohio in the forlorn hope he is invincible, and hand the GOP over to a lunatic, and I’m sorry, but it is true, his lunatic followers.
