What happens if Rubio wins Iowa?

Ok Freepers, put down the Trump/Cruz bats for a minute and consider this.

According to polling a plurality of Iowa voters are either undecided or soft in their support for any candidate.

Religious voters play a significant role in Iowa politics.

Religious voters have demonstrated in the past a distaste for candidate who engage in the bare knuckle politics Cruz/Trump have recently engaged in.

Historically polling in Iowa has been rather in accurate. Iowa almost always produces a surprise result.

Rubio has gone full out of for the religious votes. His ads spend a lot of time with him talking about his religious faith. His stump speechs spend a lot of time on his faith

Team Cruz switched from targeting Trump to going after Rubio today.

Nothing. The liberal wing of FR will support the New York liberal and the conservative wing will support the Texas conservative. Any Rubio supporters will remain silent or elsewhere because honestly who needs the shit that will be flung their way?

About the only mention of Cruz was to replay his first answer to Play-Doh head about everyone else on the stage being mean, fat and ugly. Without playing the whole comment.

It's amazing that he couldn't anticipate that happening. Does he not know how the media works?

We would all have to post much more and hit the keys very very hard.

And maybe consider switching to all caps in every post.

I don't think Rubio will take 1st in Iowa and although, Cruz is heading south, I don't think Rubio will end in a strong 2nd place. Just barley 2nd place is possible.

If Cruz and Rubio are running close after Iowa, Trump needs to stand back (doubtful) and let the two of them duke it out. If Rubio looks like he is surging with any kind of strength, Trump has to go after him.....and so do we. Mr. Gang of 8 cannot become a problem. IMO, Cruz is done.

Rubio isn’t qualified either. New round of birther debate. Trump will fuel it.
Rubio is Trump’s next target anyway. Cruz has peaked, and his popularity will go down substantially in the next month.

Very true.

I do not know how common this is, but one Iowa family has been getting mailed fliers from Rubio several times a week. Also some from Cruz and Bush, but nothing from Trump. On TV, at least during the shows they watch, most of the ads have been pro-Rubio, how tough he is on immigration. Bush’s ads have been mainly anti Rubio.

I don't think it really matters who wins Iowa, since they haven't picked a winner since 1999, George W. Bush.

In 2007, it was Mike Huckabee (wrong), and in 2011 it was Rick Santorum (wrong). In 1995, it was Bob Dole (correct), in 1987 it was Bob Dole (wrong), in 1979 it was George H. W. Bush (wrong).

So since 1979 they have correctly picked the eventually nominee twice, 1995 and the nominee Dole lost to Clinton, and 1999, Bush who won the nomination and the election.

I can’t imagine any scenario where Rubio becomes president, so if he wins Iowa my prediction is that no matter what, if he gets to the nomination, he will lose.

Well...it’s true. Santorum won it in the last week. You are quite correct. Surprises can happen.

What happens if Rubio wins Iowa?”

The same thing that happened last time when the frontrunners did not win Iowa I guess. Nothing. Iowa is not as important as it is made out to be.

FR will have a epic melt down.

Well...this Trump/Cruz one has been very memorable in its own right. Lots of FRiends blasting FRiends without remembering that for the most part we all want the same things. Even after Washi's thread. I'm guilty. Piled on Ted. So is Washi however. And I will continue to until Mr. Cruz drops. Much as I expect Washi to until Monday night. It's the nature of this blood sport, but in the end we need to keep the big picture in focus and remember that as Christians, we are called to forgive. As we have been forgiven. Carry on FR. And thanks to Jim for letting us duke it out. ;-)

Rubio is totally unqualified. He is a fist-term senator controlled by special interests. He responds with memorized speeches. Litigation over his nbc status would last for a long time. He has no experience and no achievements. He is for amnesty and Syrian “immigrants” and was a member of the Gang of Eight.

Fox TV has also been pimping him. Fox has a conflict of interest re Rubio. Several posters have mentioned links between him and Sammons.

Looks like Cruz peaked too early in Iowa. Lots of apoplexy coming to the Cruz Camp Monday night.

I've been trying to cut back. Really, I have. I do have my moments of frustration and go over the top. Assuming Rubio doesn't pull a rabbit out the his hat and win Iowa, I will be extremely relieved when the whole Cruz/Trump thing is decided and we can focus on defeating the dark side.

Until then, though, TRUMP IS A POOPYHEAD!
