Republican Cruz rips Trump, links him to Clinton

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz sought on Tuesday to link his rival Donald Trump to Democrat Hillary Clinton, saying it would make her supporters happy if the real estate mogul were to win the Republican nomination.

Trump had cited constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe in arguing that because Cruz, the U.S. senator from Texas, was born in Canada, he might not be eligible to be U.S. president.

"It is more than a little strange to see Donald relying on as authoritative a liberal left-wing judicial activist Harvard law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter," Cruz told reporters after a rally at a gun range in New Hampshire.

He said in the last couple of presidential elections, Democrats were able to run against the Republican of their choice, leading to two victories for President Barack Obama.

"It starts to make you think, gosh, why are Hillary's strongest supporters backing Donald Trump?" Cruz said.

(CRUZ): >>>I will say that it's more than a little strange to see Donald relying on as authoritative a liberal, left-wing, judicial activist Harvard Law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter (Ed. note - Laurence Tribe). It starts to make you think, "Gosh, why are some of Hillary's strongest supporters backing Trump?" You know, the last couple of elections the Democrats have gotten the nominee they wanted to run against in the general election. It seems the Hillary folks are very eager to support Donald Trump and the attacks that are being tossed my direction.<<< Source

Just the press, throwing gasoline on a match.

I think it's healthy for the candidates to have a spirited debate, but this guilt by association thing is thin gruel for me. The masses will eat it up like it's tenderloin steak.

Nov 2012:

......Romney’s solution of “self deportation” for illegal aliens made no sense and suggested that Republicans do not care about Hispanics in general, Trump says.

“He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal,” Trump says. “It sounded as bad as it was, and he lost all of the Latino vote,” Trump notes. “He lost the Asian vote. He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country.”

The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy “to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country,” Trump says.

My, that is one heck of a statement coming from a guy who gets BIG donations from the Lawyer PACs who give the most to Hillary! lol

Clinton, Hillary (D) $7,101,091
Bush, Jeb (R) $1,311,555.....go Jeb! LOL
Harris, Kamala D (D-CA) $739,088
Schumer, Charles E (D-NY) $734,322
Cruz, Ted (R) $644,659
Rubio, Marco (R) $576,185 At least he is not running for his senate job again!

METHODOLOGY: The numbers on this page are based on contributions from PACs and individuals giving $200 or more.
All donations took place during the 2015-2016 election cycle and were released by the Federal Election Commission on Friday, October 16, 2015.
In the 2014 election cycle, the industry contributed over $120 million to federal political candidates and interests, 70 percent of which went to Democrats. https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/recips.php?cycle=2016&ind=K01

Feb 2011:

“.............However, of the nearly $420,000 Trump has donated to committees, the largest recipient has been the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee with $116,000 - or more than one fourth of his total contributions to all party and political action committees.”

It seems like you’re standing in front of the door to our tent and barring entry to all but a few. I don’t see how that secures any kind of victory for us.

Gosh. I must have imagined the numerous times I thought I saw Cruz folks cite the (deeply flawed) opinions of two liberal former Solicitors General who supported the Cruz position in the Harvard Law Review.

Howie mentioned Hillary saying that Trump was more a Democrat than Republican.

Cruz: She should know.

Works for me.

Oh the headlines with which the liberals love to manipulate.

Cruz is defending himself against Trumps baseless and persistent attacks.

Cruz should not be throwing stones on connections to Democrats but his private polls must show him doing progressively worse. Today’s Reuters poll has “Surging Ted” down the usual 25 points another one had Cruz down 21 points and he is falling in Iowa his only hope.

That's some rhetorical gymnastics to go from Tribe questioning Cruz eligibility to Tribe supporting Trump for the GOP nomination.

But, hey, if it works for him, good for him.

I'd like to see a bloody dogfight on the way to Cleveland.
