Ted Cruz Just Unloaded on Donald Trump
Red State ^ | January 1, 2016 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 01/12/2016 1:07:36 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

It appears that the bromance between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump is probably over for good. I mean, it was one thing to see Donald Trump openly attacking Cruz for days on end. We've seen that before, and never before had Cruz taken the bait. It appears that this method of dealing with Trump has finally reached its end in the Cruz campaign.

(CRUZ): >>>I will say that it's more than a little strange to see Donald relying on as authoritative a liberal, left-wing, judicial activist Harvard Law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter (Ed. note - Laurence Tribe). It starts to make you think, "Gosh, why are some of Hillary's strongest supporters backing Trump?" You know, the last couple of elections the Democrats have gotten the nominee they wanted to run against in the general election. It seems the Hillary folks are very eager to support Donald Trump and the attacks that are being tossed my direction.<<<

Welcome to the party, Ted Cruz. Better late than never to call Trump what he is.

I, for one, am glad that the prominent conservative personalities who have been pretending Trump is a conservative and talking about him positively to bolster their ratings, will finally have to choose between their wallet and their ideology (and credibility) in this battle between Trump and Cruz. It's been a long time coming.

Jesus. That is all I can really say to your post. You really don’t understand.

You CLEARLY don’t understand the 1795 Act.

The best thing Cruz could have done is just ignore this and laugh it off.

Nope. Can't unring a bell. Cruz is giving DT a chance to explain his sketchy allies.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I'm going to say it anyway. This thread troubles me. If I were a liberal lurker I'd be pleased to see the infighting and division going on here right now.

Judging from the usual enemedia and pundits jumping on the citizenship wagon, this argument was already in the chute for Cruz and ready to spring.

I like Cruz’ immigration stance better. Cruz will not allow deported illegals to come back in. Trump says he will “expedite’ the re entry of the “good ones”.

Stands in front of a Church for a picture versus Tells the country he never feels like he has to ask forgiveness from Christ.

I’ll go with the picture guy who asks people for money out of necessity just like many Churches do each Sunday all across America. Instead of the creep who doesn’t need forgiveness from Christ while he talks glowingly of North Korea’s leader and Putin.

What kills me is that so many ‘conservatives’ here on FR opine for the days of Reagan. They tout Cruz as the next Reagan - a “real” conservative. “Trump’s no conservative!” they say.

Let’s just look at Reagan again, shall we?

- The man went through a string of women and was divorced before he met Nancy. (More than 50 women definitely puts him in the ‘slut’ category.)
- He was a major proponent of gay rights, spent a ton of government money on AIDS research, and preached tolerance for the homosexual lifestyle. He taught his own children that homosexuality was normal and had close homosexual and lesbian friends. For the Religious Right, all of this is sacrilege.
- He was a ‘big government’ conservative - mostly military - and expanded government spending by almost 200%. (We all agree that this is nothing compared to Obama, but - at the time - these numbers were historic.)
- He was *not* an isolationist as far as the world stage went and build the US up to be the world’s greatest superpower.
- Iran Contra... Remember that? That disaster was as bad (if not worse) than Fast and Furious.
- He expanded Nixon’s War on Drugs into the monster that it is today and we are now paying the price for that in many ways.
- Yes. He lowered the marginal income tax rate significantly, but that was followed by another ten tax increases, including the (horror!) capital gains tax.
- He actually DID grant amnesty to the millions of illegal immigrants who were currently residing in the US. In today’s political climate, this is heresy.
- He supported the Brady Bill and gun control.

In many ways, Trump is more Reagan than Cruz will ever be. If you say that Trump is not a conservative, then you have to deny Reagan.

All-in-all, we measure Reagan’s greatness by the result and nobody can argue with the, overall, fantastic results of most of his policies.

We keep pushing for the candidates that are further and further right, hoping to find *someone* who will accomplish *something* for us, but those candidates can’t get anything accomplished at all.

Trump may actually have the strength to get a few things going in our direction.

If he can turn around the economy, stop the flood of illegals, prevent us from becoming Europe and being overwhelmed by the Muslim hoard, restore our military strength, and end the Department of Education’s stranglehold on our children, he’ll have done more than the hundreds of ‘conservatives’ that we’ve already elected.

I’m not looking for a president to ‘save us’. We have to save ourselves socially and morally. (It would be nice to have a president who backs us up, though.)

Believe it or not, it will begin with the economy. There are *many* young people who are dying to start a traditional family and simply *cannot* do it in this economic climate. Women can’t afford to stay home and men cannot provide for a family by themselves.

Cruz will spend his entire presidency fighting with a recalcitrant Congress. Our nation will continue to flounder in our Great Malaise. I promise you, the only way that he’ll be able to win the general is if people hate Clinton enough to vote against her. That has never worked well. Cruz will not be able to gather enough of the general public’s support to win on his merits. It’ll be 2012 all over again because people simply won’t have the passion to show up and freaking *vote* for this man on election day.

Trump scares the heck out of other politicians and Congress will have to cooperate because he has the public’s support. Again, if he does just 10% of what he aspires to do, he’ll do much more than the rest combined.

So keep looking for your perfect conservative, forget that one of our greatest presidents was not a perfect conservative, and keep pushing for a candidate that will be ineffective - but might give us long, boring, fire-side lectures on the greatness of conservationism that nobody will actually listen to.

Just keep in mind that our nation is desperate for a powerful leader who’s all action and less talk. We need a hard kickstart and Cruz will NOT be able to give us that.

Trump said he like Clarence one time when he was trying to curry favor. He can't name a single reason he likes Thomas as a jurist. He recently attacked Justice Scalia for comments he made about Affirmative Action. Thomas is even more opposed to AA than Scalia.

You put too much stock in what politicians say (worthless) than the evidence. Stop believing everything the GOPe claims.

If you are a Conservative why would you support a liberal RINO like Trump? If you are a Conservative why be dismissive of real Conservatives?

Single issue voters are the poster children of OCD.

“If you don’t support Cruz you have to turn in your conservative card?”

The Cruz people have gone full authoritarian the past couple of weeks.

Demanding that JimRob kick off Trump supporters. Calling anyone that dares support someone other than Cruz “fake conservatives” or “fake Christians”. Flooding FR with every no-name blog that repeats the same in an appeal to conformity.

I fully expect some of them to actually threaten people personally if they cant get their way.

During the most recent election cycle, Trump contributed $170,000 to the Republican Governor s Association, $50,000 to the ultra-conservative American Crossroads PAC, $30,400 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and $10,000 to the Democratic Party of New York.

However, of the nearly $420,000 Trump has donated to committees, the largest recipient has been the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee with $116,000 or more than one fourth of his total contributions to all party and political action committees.
...................................................................................................................................

So at least $250,000 went to the Republicans, which is more than twice the amount given to Democrats.
*****************************************************************************
Ahh... the “Republicans” Trump contributed toward appear to be from “RINO Central”:

“the ultra-conservative American Crossroads PAC”? Give me a break, Karl Rove is as far as you can get from “ultra-conservative”.

“the National Republican Senatoria Committee”? As in, let’s coordinate with the ‘RATS to bring in Democrat voters to protect the NRC puppet Thad Cochran?

Essentially Trump has mainly contributed to ‘RATS & RINOs.

Ted Zeppelin is grasping at straws (again) and apparently is starting to come apart at the seams when he has mistakenly perceived that Trump’s comments concerning this are anything more than meant to be helpful.

Leon H. Woof is also suffering from acute TDS and probably has neat ties to Ted’s donor/owners (reason for writing this spew).

But the Cruzenberg was doomed from the beginning.

Its Goin Down...

I can tell you aren’t a lawyer because you don’t have a clue.

Find someone here who is a lawyer. I want you to get them to agree with that nonsense you just posted.

I don’t get it. As conservatives we occasionally manage to elect one of our own to a federal seat, then that person is immediately redefined as an “insider”. Why is that?

Are you a lawyer? By the way, the majority of lawyer’s support my interpretation. I disagree with Lawrence Tribe about a lot of things. Do you also believe that only militia members have the right to firearms?

And you have no concerns whatsoever about Trump? Do you honestly believe that he built a multi-billion dollar company without making political allies - most of whom, historically, have been some very liberal Democrats?

I’m a Cruz supporter and have been since the outset, but, until recently, Trump was number two on my pick list, as I mentioned here repeatedly. I’m bothered by his support of TPP and I have some problems with his explanation of his proposed amendment to the “Gang of Eight” bill. However, for the vast majority of his public life, he has been a consistent, constitutionally-focused conservative, which is more than I can say for anyone who has run for president since Reagan and there’s little doubt in my mind that he’s one of the brightest men to ever run for the office of president.

I accept the fact that I’ll never see the perfect candidate, but Cruz is close enough for me.

Thanks, Marie. Imho, Cruz is nothing like Reagan and I say that as a former Cruz supporter.
