A lot of conservative voters â especially those old enough to have lived through the high inflation of the 1970s â are convinced that America is currently suffering from an inflation problem. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) pandered to those voters in a recent Republican presidential debate, blaming the "loose money" policies of the Federal Reserve for raising the prices of various consumer products.
But new data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that overall, prices aren't going up. At all.
Between September and October, prices actually fell slightly. And over the past year, the inflation rate was exactly 0.0 percent....

I have done my own break pad replacement,
changed fuel pumps,
tuned my cars hundred times,
changed oil & oil filters + Fuel filters + Air filters,
Flushed cooling systems,
changed V-belts...
But no more. Tool old. I don’t even bother changing oil myself. But I know exactly what you are saying about saving money. The trick is to know what exactly needs fixing before taking the jalopy to the repair shop. Then they can’t gyp you too much. Once they wanted to overhaul my engine, telling me I had cracked main bearings, but I diagnosed the problem as a broken rocker arm, so instead of $5000 it cost me $300.
It also can’t possibly include property taxes or health insurance or car insurance. Because it is different in different cities & counties.
But new data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that overall, prices aren’t going up. At all.
Forgive me if I DO NOT believe these lying sacks of male bovine excrement.
Yeah that is kinda like our household.
We have fried chicken one night and then with the bones, chicken soup the next.
We raise our own chickens but cannot get past the dang toenails so they usually end up in the soup.
And re groceries, where the price per each hasn’t got bigger, the size per each has got smaller.
True, oil prices are down. That’s a big factor in the inflation calculation.
But the price increases throughout the economy that were directly or indirectly caused by high oil prices haven’t gone away. They are still there.
In Venezuela, toilet paper.has been reduced to 0” wide.
One of the most annoying things about a propaganda mouthpiece is that it expects you to shut your brain off and play dumb along with it.
Give reality my regards when it wakes you up the hard way, Vox.
The author at his rubbish totally discounts the “quantitative easing “ which has flooded our economy with dollars. The Feds don’t include certain numbers anymore in order to make it come out right. Anybody been grocery shopping lately?
Gas has been the only thing that has gone down. Food and services.....especially services has soared
In still do those things on my vehical but getting to old for it , the old bones remind me of it real fast, but when your poor you have no choice.
I did most of my own repairs for decades... Then my 3 boys helped out. Now my boys are out doing their own lives and I occasionally bring something for simple service, the prices are through the roof.
I got some old stinky sweaty socks ready for stinky socks stew.. Yummy..
Is it me ?
Or does it seem like McDonalds puts wood pulp in their hamburgers ?
Sure tastes like.
Here is one for you.
You ever changed a oil pan from under the vehical and be in the right position and have engine oil go up your nose ?
NOT GOOD at all...
Nasty as hell.
Had brake clean go in my eyes before, had coolant go in my mouth, transmission fluid to in my mouth, face, hair changing the transmission pan.
Brake fluid tastes and smells nasty as hell.
What sucks the most is fixing the car under the car on a very cold winter day.
With oil prices down one would think that the shipping costs of goods would be lower, but no.
Shadowstats thinks inflation has come down recently, but is still in the 3.5% range. Seem reasonable to me.

I see the author hasn’t been to a grocery store recently.
Funny how they stopped using many of the sure cost risers as part of the equation when the economy originally tanked during the transition from Bush to Obama - it seems they have kept removing things so soon the indicator will be free Obama phones....
Yes, they just leave out items Americans use such as food.
It is now more expensive to make your own food that eat out. Especially if you add time for preparation and cleanup.
