Crowd awaiting Pope Francis boos Trump in New York: Donald Trump in the news
The Cleveland Plain Dealer ^ | September 25, 2015 | Sabrina Eaton

Today's Donald Trump news: As a thick crowd gathered Thursday afternoon on New York's Fifth Avenue to get a glimpse of Pope Francis, the faithful caught sight of someone else – Donald Trump. The presidential candidate stepped out of his company headquarters at about 4:30 p.m. and waved. But the crowd quickly reminded Trump that – despite countless appearances on talk shows, rallies and over-populated debates – they weren't there to see him. Trump heard some cheers, but was mostly showered with boos, a reaction that might not have pleased the pope, who had just finished preaching about the Golden Rule: New York Daily News

There was already a buzz surrounding Pope Francis and Donald Trump. In addressing a joint meeting of Congress earlier in the day, the Pope challenged politicians to reject a "mind-set of hostility," saying "we, the people of this continent, are not fearful of foreigners, because most of us were once foreigners. I say this to you as the son of immigrants, knowing that so many of you are also descended from immigrants." Trump has been outspoken on the issue of immigration, leading some pundits to claim the comments were a veiled shot a Trump: Albany Times Union

Trump remains the Republican front-runner -- but a new poll confirms that he's losing some support. Hillary Clinton also maintains her advantage on the Democratic side, even if the undeclared Joe Biden jumps into the mix....

Let’s see ....

In this ‘report’ from The Cleveland Plain Dealer, a liberal newspaper from the land of Kasich, from Boehner, ....

We have “boos”,

we have adulation for a political Pope who espouses nonsense,

we have a Rovian media narrative:

“Trump remains the Republican front-runner — but a new poll confirms that he’s losing some support.”

So we can expect people who gave us the son of a mailman and also a dangerous drunkard to have their views shaped by this liberal rag to fall in step with a megalomaniac hack named Rove against a patriot.

The laws we have in place regarding immigration are proof that we have no hate or fear of foreginers. Those laws are being flouted by thieves.

WHAT exactly is why the founders kept Catholics out of whatever?
The pope this pope quoted Reagan in his encyclical on capitalism and ges AGAINST Catholic teaching

Anti Catholicism is rooted in ignorance. Ann thinks she knows Church teaching. But she likely has not done any study on it.

You will be surprised by the number of votes Trump will get in the five boroughs. I’m not saying he will carry the city, but he will do better than Reagan did in 1984 (39%).

The Donald is five blocks away from St. Pat’s and the traffic goes in the opposite direction. So how were people to see the Pope on 56th St? Maybe they closed 5th Avenue. I’m not there today, thank God. Although I’ve heard traffic was non-existent.

She hates Jews; she hates Catholics. This immigrant business of Catholics seems to have accelerated since I was a kid. I don't remember one sermon (and I heard thousands) on immigration. When I go to St. Agnes in NYC, it's always pointed out that these policies are looney.

A month ago, I was in Trump Tower having lunch - the Donald was too (he had spaghetti, we had a lousy sandwich from the deli area) and there was an immense crowd standing by to have photos taken with him. No booing but lots of cheers.

Trump doesn’t count..

the pope meant “the golden rule” to only include those who agreed with him on global warming and opening our doors to 100,000 Islamic terrorists..

Cleveland where Obama got more votes than there were registered voters. What a reliable source.

If you consider that Donald Trump is a lifelong New York City resident then his public persona is pretty much on the mark.
In a place like New York you have to be brash and loud to be recognized. And Trump likes to stand out in a crowd.
I have no problem with that.
Especially given how successful he has been.

I can only figure it had to have been illegals because Popes have been to NYC before and not caused such a stir.
This Pope loves telling us to welcome the illegals, so it follows that they would flock to him.
It also follows that the illegals waiting for the Pope would boo the man talking about building a fence and sending their butts home.

Now be truthful, was the sandwich really lousy or not what you expected to be sold at Trump Tower?
Enquiring minds want to know!

Yes, it wasn’t very good. Next to the Grill (where the Don was eating) is a pretty cafeteria-style area. We had roast beef sandwiches and they were the eternal New York “meh.” The Donald was dining with Maureen Dowd and they had spaghetti.

The Grill had a very nice-looking prix fixe: $23 for a Trump Burger, Trump Caesar Salad and Trump Brownie a la mode. Not bad for NYC.

Liberals have now adopted “we love illegal aliens” - they are drawn to stupid causes like moths to light - so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was rich NYers booing him.

The few times I have been to NYC the food was either great or lousy.
I was driving a truck, so I never got around to the nice places.

There was a nice deli on Long Island that I hit a few times. Great Reuben sandwiches.

Also had some great pizza in NYC.
Everything was pricey for this country boy.

What is it about big city liberals that makes them blind to the facts.

I remember going to LA when Tony Blake was on trial for killing his girlfriend.
I was delivering a load that took a good time to unload.
Went to the break room, the trial was on the TV.
I couldn’t remember the name of the woman that he was accused of killing, so I asked one of the guys who were watching it.
The guy just looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and said “B list, who cares.”
There were probably 20 people in the room and no one cared to even remember her name because she wasn’t one of the A list celebrities.

There must be something in the water in the cities that damages peoples higher brain functions.

That really is what it's all about.

I suspect there are a lot of illegals in that crowd.

Remember how far-left the average New Yorker is. Also, people waiting to see a Socialist Pope can be assumed to lean Socialist.

Well, it was Robert Blake, not Tony Blake. The reason for the indifference was she was one of the worst people to inhabit Hollywood. A grifter with something like 32 husbands who couldn’t decide whether to rip off Blake or her other beau, the late Christian Brando, son of Marlon. This is a strong reason why he got acquitted. But like Lizzie Bordon who was also acquitted, once people determined he shouldn’t go to jail, they turned their backs on him. As Dorothy Parker said about F. Scott Fitzgerald: “The poor bastard.”

Exactly right.
Bonnie Lee Bakley (Robert Blake’s wife) had an extensive criminal history. I’d post it now, but it would take up too much space, so for anyone who is interested, it’s here:

Thanks, Tris. She was quite the skank. I do believe Blake (check out his brilliant performance in “In Cold Blood,” people!) was as guilty as hell but he had the grace, at least,to get nauseous over the crime 30 minutes afterwards. I wonder where he is now? We need a Kenneth Anger for an update.

When the “victim” is a predator, people tend to be less likely to convict, no doubt about it.

Retirement and 2010 tax lien[edit]
Blake has maintained a low profile since his acquittal and his filing for bankruptcy with debts of US$3,000,000 for unpaid legal fees and state and federal taxes after the criminal and civil trials.[32] Having retired from acting years before the murder of Bonnie Lee Bakley, and due to his legal issues, Blake has said that he might return to acting someday to help himself financially.[33] On April 9, 2010, the state of California filed a tax lien against Blake for US$1,110,878 with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds for unpaid back taxes.[34]

In December 2011, Blake appeared on Tavis Smiley.[35] On July 16, 2012, Blake was interviewed on Piers Morgan Tonight. During the interview, Blake was asked by Morgan about the night of the murder of Blake’s wife, Bonnie. The line of questioning quickly led to Blake becoming defensive and angry. Blake said he resented Morgan’s questioning and felt he was being interrogated. Morgan disagreed with Blake’s assessment of the questioning saying he was only asking questions he felt people were eager to have answered.[36] Blake told interviewers and wrote in his autobiography that he hoped he would be offered one more great acting role before he died. Lost Highway (1997), remains Blake’s last acting role to date.
