The release — titled "Donald J. Trump Sends Club for Growth Scathing Cease and Desist Letter Regarding Recent 'Attack Ads'" — repeatedly bashed the Club for Growth, with whom Trump has constantly feuded during his campaign.
"I am not surprised the dishonest, irrelevant and totally failing Club for Growth has resorted to attacking the definitive front-runner, especially after I refused to contribute to their pathetic group," Trump said in a statement.
In the cease-and-desist letter to Club for Growth President David McIntosh, Trump lawyer Alan Garten similarly tore into the "pitiful little group" while promising a devastating lawsuit should the group not immediately pull its attack ads against Trump.

Are you implying Trump has dumass lawyers working for him?
Does that then mean if Trump had better lawyers in his outfit, he could be worth much more like $20 or $30 Billion?
I am not a lawyer, so I know nothing about SLAPP suits, but my daughter is finishing law school, so I might ask her. My career was just in the mundane area of heavy machinery design and manufacturing.
We can debate this until blue in the face, with no end result. As they say, the test of a pudding is in the taste.
When January 2016 rolls around, and primaries begin, we can then watch, if Trump is still winning by comfortable margins. That will be the test to decide if Club for Growth won or Trump prevailed in spite of arrows shot by rivals.

Think he knows a little something about staying in the headlines.
There are many multi-billion dollar businesses that have ended up on the wrong side of an anti-SLAPP judgment. Trump wouldn't be the first. And everyone here is talking about all of the big-money people behind CFG - do you really believe they wouldn't have the money to fight Trump in a lawsuit he CANNOT win? And once the suit is filed, if CFG files a claim under the anti-SLAPP statute, even if Trump drops the case, CFG can still get sanctions, attorney fees and punitive damages. Once the anti-SLAPP statute is invoked, he can no longer say, "no harm, no foul".
A simple Google search can get you started on learning about SLAPP suits. You might also ask your daughter about the likelihood of a political candidate winning a libel lawsuit over a political ad...

Hang on...first primary is only 100 days away. We shall see if any one will be successful in derailing the Trump train. No need to argue excessively now. It won’t settle anything.
Oh this was not about whether or not someone will derail Trump - I think that will happen on its own, but I could be wrong. This was just about Trump’s threat to sue - it is an empty threat. He can’t win, could get hit with sanctions and damages if he does, and would just draw more attention to the ads.
Yes and he is proving he can’t be bought and this is what happens when you don’t play the game with these specialty groups. If he had given CFG the the money then would they be running positive ads?
If the Club for Growth is so conservative then why did they endorse Rubio?? That is proof that they support amnesty. They are the enemy.

CFG sure liked Trump when they were asking for money but they went into a hissy fit because they got rejected. I think this whole thing says more about CFG being disingenuous and their lack of credibility. They couldn’t buy Trump so they’ll try and take him out.

Nope. He turned it into $50 million in free advertising FOR him...aimed at young DEMOCRAT voters.
The CFG attack ads call attention to his previous tax-the-rich position, in which he did at one time advocate soaking the top one percenters to pay down the deficit, with a one time 14% wallop.
In his cease and desist letter, he admits he held those views 15 years ago, but says it’s libelous to suggest he still does. The lawsuit threat is bluster for the benefit of Republicans.
BUT...the deficit has skyrocketed in the last 15 years, and the soak-the-top-one-percent idea is very much favored by young Democrats, especially the Occupy crowd. Hence, he’s intentionally calling attention to his earlier positions in order to lasso their votes as well.
What position he’ll hold if he’s actually elected is anybody’s guess.
Right now, it’s about getting attention, controlling the polls, and turning that into votes.
Funny how our opinions take a dive off the deep end when our own feelings ain't being satisfied.
Who do you support (donations and/or volunteer type support - "liking" a candidate ain't support)?

They’re “free” to say whatever they want. He’s “free” to sue them if they knowingly and maliciously spread falsehoods about him. The court is “free” to award Trump a judgment for damages.
You do have some good points, and have some I disagree with. I love politics.
It is an old story. One-issue fanaticism tends to be self-destructive, even when the issue is a valid one.
For starters, the Club does not seem to care about ethnic or cultural continuity, which to a great many people will trump the purely material economic theories of the Club. (As a lifelong Conservative, I am in that latter category.
While I have been thanking the Lord for Trump's recent actions, no "pun" is intended, above. My feelings about "puns," were, as I recall, the same as Edgar Allan Poe's.
Or alternatively, importing thousands under L1 visas for training, and then shipping them back oversees along with the jobs.
L1 abuse is even worse than H1.
