The release titled "Donald J. Trump Sends Club for Growth Scathing Cease and Desist Letter Regarding Recent 'Attack Ads'" repeatedly bashed the Club for Growth, with whom Trump has constantly feuded during his campaign.
"I am not surprised the dishonest, irrelevant and totally failing Club for Growth has resorted to attacking the definitive front-runner, especially after I refused to contribute to their pathetic group," Trump said in a statement.
In the cease-and-desist letter to Club for Growth President David McIntosh, Trump lawyer Alan Garten similarly tore into the "pitiful little group" while promising a devastating lawsuit should the group not immediately pull its attack ads against Trump.

I think you are a lying fraud.
Me & LongWayHome belong to the "Rule of Law" Union. It doesn't pay wages.
You should join. :)
You can’t be serious! (I love that phrase from John McEnroe) How many people pay attention to political Ads 14 months before election? The TV stations will not run the Ad any more than what was paid to run it.
On the other hand, Trump will get $50 million worth of publicity for the news clips of his intention to file a mega-suit. It is all about getting your name in the news. Why do you think Graham & Jindal are not getting in the news? Most people never even heard of Kasich & Pataki. That explains why they are all at 1%.
I think yo are an open borders amnesty loving punk.
E-X-A-C-T-L-Y..
Trump is flushing out ALL the turds.
I’m too old to be a punk.
I think that Yebbie believes that "rule of law" = "Open Borders".
I'm not going to join THAT particular union. You part of Yebbie's union, Okla?
CFG reminds me of those 2 GOPe frauds, Jack Kemp & Bill Bennett who were amnesty pimps.
Just jump back when the commode first sprays at the flush...
Cruz.
I’d love to see him use Alice Cooper’s “No More Mr Nice Guy” in a campaign ad.
;D
You are backing a group that is flooding this nation with millions upon millions of third world people who are voting democratic & backing a group that is supporting crony capitalism & destroying the middle class. Destroying the rule of law. Destroying the stability of what’s left of our jobs with their backing of an endless supply of cheap labor & offshoring what jobs are left.
IMO the Club for Growth ads are considered political speech. A little thing called the First Amendment might be a minor hindrance to the success of Trump’s outcome.
I agree. Most likely Trump is not going to stop this, but shinning a light on these roaches is fine by me. Republican voters need to understand just what a mirage many of these so-called conservative groups are in reality.
Trump had his suits made in Mexico and most of his wives were foreign born. Give me a break.
Your point does not change what the CFG is.....
Ever hear of a SLAPP suit? It is a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation. It is a lawsuit designed to get another party to stop exercising their rights by filing an expensive lawsuit against them in order to bankrupt them. If Trump filed a libel suit over these ads, it would be a classic SLAPP suit - he wouldn't expect to win on the merits, as a libel case by a public figure is almost impossible to win. You have to prove that the people had absolutely NO reason to believe what they said could be true, hve to prove they acted maliciously and have to prove that you were harmed - and even then the suit is likely to be tossed.
Trump's problem is that there are laws against SLAPP suits, and the judge can impose sanctions, award damages and punitive damages.
Usually not that many. If Trump had ignored the ad, they probably would have no impact outside of Iowa. But Trump has now made them a national story. Every person who hears about the lawsuit will also hear about the ads that prompted threat. It will make a lot of people who would have never seen the ads otherwise go and look to see what all the hoopla is about.
You claim Trump will get $50 million in free publicity about the suit - he will also give $50 million in free publicity to the ads. Can't have one without the other.
