Before thousands at sports arena, candidate mocks pundits who called him a 'clown'

DALLAS (CNN) - The ultimate showman ripped up the political rule book again Monday -- two nights before what is shaping up as a fiery showdown with his rivals at the CNN Republican debate at the Reagan presidential library in California.

Donald Trump walked boldly onto the stage at a sports arena in Dallas, which was transformed into a rally of thousands of fervent supporters, and reinvented the time honored tradition of candidate debate prep ahead of Wednesday's crucial showdown.

"I hear they are going after me. Whatever. Whatever," Trump told roaring fans, many wearing "Make America Great" ball caps, T-shirts emblazoned with his likeness, and even one woman in a paper dress with multiple photos of the billionaire.

Trump is not the kind of candidate who spends days locked behind closed doors, fine tuning soundbites and policy jabs, put downs and zingers before a crucial debate.

While most GOP White House hopefuls have light schedules going into the debate, the billionaire real estate investor -- who repeatedly tells people he has only been a politician for three months -- does things his way....

That was about the most disjointed speech I've ever heard in my life but, man, did he knock it out of the park. He definitely knows how to sell the sizzle. Nobody can deny that he truly will do everything in his power to make America great again. His stumbling blocks will be Congress and the Men Seeking Men mediums.

He isn't the most eloquent speaker, but he is effective.

The stumbling blocks you mentioned will be the same for anyone with a hint of a conservative bent that gets into the WH - He or Cruz (my two hopefuls) will have to make extensive use of the Bully Pulpit to keep up the pressure and we the People will have to help in every way if we expect significant changes to occur.

Hopefully he can squeeze in some rest.

That’s why his plane has a bedroom.

I hope he lies low Tuesday, too, so he’s at the top of his game on the Wednesday CNN “debate”, where I would like to see him and Cruz blow away the others on the stage... including Carson.

In short, he has no clue on the details of what he’s talking about.
*****************************
None of the candidates know the details of whatever it is they are promising.

Trump, and I believe Cruz, would gather logical people around to prepare a detailed plan to accomplish each goal. It’s what leaders do.

Also, it is waaaay too early before the primaries to be revealing details of how a candidate intends to implement campaign assertions about changes.

He pulls off letting the crowd think they are in the strategy room just talking. The person is in on the deal.

Hdee is smart and always thinking ahead, though sometimes it is hard to see what he is doing.

He covered quickly some potential things the GOPe might try.

People don’t care about the details. Details are why GOP candidates lose a lot. They get stuck in the weeds.

We are hiring someone who we think we do all possible to get the job done not someone to tire us with details that may or may not work.

I’m not interested in Scott Walker or his pitch.

Dude is a complete dope. I’m not concerned with the GOP anymore.

I think you missed the whole point of my post.
When something appears so absurd, then at least an “idea” of the mechanics used to implement it is a necessity.

No different from someone saying they’d provide healthcare to all; or they’d abolish all poverty; or remove all illegals, all 11-20 million of them. When people incredulously ask how, its a lazy response to say that details will follow.
