Are We Seriously Doing This? Trump Leads Texas Poll
The San Antonio Current ^ | August 20, 2015 | Michael Marks

Posted on 08/20/2015 3:14:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It seems that Texas Republicans, like Republicans everywhere else, have caught Trump fever. Insert your favorite pathology joke here.

Donald Trump is the favored presidential candidate among Texas Republican voters, according to a poll released today by the Texas Bipartisan Justice Committee. The Houston Chronicle reported the results.

Trump leads the poll with 24 percent support. Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who had led most Texas polls up to this point, came in second with 16 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson is the only other candidate to garner more than 10 percent. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Florida Senator Marco Rubio follow close behind.

Trump has proved to be unassailable. Just one of his campaign trail transgressions could have sunk another candidate, but somehow, he’s done more than just stay afloat. Like an aggressive and possibly deadly hot air balloon, he continues to ascend.

Trump’s campaign missteps include:

-labelling Mexicans who cross the southern border rapists

-calling for mass deportation of illegal immigrants (including those with U.S.-born children)

-suggesting that Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly had blood “coming out of her wherever”

-listing his position on just a single issue on his campaign website

-making it clear he was totally joking about those "dating my daughter" comments he made back in 2006

-offering $50 to anyone willing to cheer for him at his campaign announcement

That's an impressive lifetime list for anyone. For Trump to rack up those accolades in just a few months is a monument to his abilities as some sort of rabble-rousing hair piece gremlin.

Still, the surge continues. Trump is Teflon. That’s apparently as true in Texas as anywhere else.

God help us.

He has used the same strategy on every other issue, why would he change tactics now?

Exactly. I tried to say it the other day, but I’m not sure what the opposite of “the lesser evil” is. “The lesser good”, I suppose. Oh, what a relief that would be!

Wouldn’t it be fun to start chanting the Batman song at his campaign appearances?
Nananana nana nana nanananana Batman!
The lame stream media from Gotham City (aka NYC) would hate it.
But they’d be forced to report it!

It really doesn't matter whether you have personally watched his TV show. Millions and millions have. Trump has a well-known brand that the others don't have. It insulates and inoculates him from the MSM attacks.

Yes, it goes deeper than that. America loves a winner and it loves someone who loves this country. Compared to the other GOP candidates and Hillary and Bernie, the contrast is apparent.

I'm not surprised at all.

You think this is all some brilliant plan for him to get elected ? I see him winging it a lot IMO. I’m for Cruz BTW, but Ted has never been able to get his numbers up & I’m afraid he might not be able to catch on with the public. And there’s no way in hell I’m voting for Jeb , or the rest of them.

You obviously haven't read Trump's plan. As someone who has worked 8 years on this issue as part of a grassroots immigration group that lobbies on the Hill, the most important part of the plan is not even being discussed. It is earth-shattering, but the MSM and the Dems and most of the Reps don't want to touch it. It bears discussion and should be part of a national dialogue.

Put American Workers First

Decades of disastrous trade deals and immigration policies have destroyed our middle class. Today, nearly 40% of black teenagers are unemployed. Nearly 30% of Hispanic teenagers are unemployed. For black Americans without high school diplomas, the bottom has fallen out: more than 70% were employed in 1960, compared to less than 40% in 2000. Across the economy, the percentage of adults in the labor force has collapsed to a level not experienced in generations. As CBS news wrote in a piece entitled “America’s incredible shrinking middle class”: “If the middle-class is the economic backbone of America, then the country is developing osteoporosis.”

The influx of foreign workers holds down salaries, keeps unemployment high, and makes it difficult for poor and working class Americans – including immigrants themselves and their children – to earn a middle class wage. Nearly half of all immigrants and their US-born children currently live in or near poverty, including more than 60 percent of Hispanic immigrants. Every year, we voluntarily admit another 2 million new immigrants, guest workers, refugees, and dependents, growing our existing all-time historic record population of 42 million immigrants. We need to control the admission of new low-earning workers in order to: help wages grow, get teenagers back to work, aid minorities’ rise into the middle class, help schools and communities falling behind, and to ensure our immigrant members of the national family become part of the American dream.

Additionally, we need to stop giving legal immigrant visas to people bent on causing us harm. From the 9/11 hijackers, to the Boston Bombers, and many others, our immigration system is being used to attack us. The President of the immigration caseworkers union declared in a statement on ISIS: “We've become the visa clearinghouse for the world.”

Here are some additional specific policy proposals for long-term reform:

Increase prevailing wage for H-1Bs. We graduate two times more Americans with STEM degrees each year than find STEM jobs, yet as much as two-thirds of entry-level hiring for IT jobs is accomplished through the H-1B program. More than half of H-1B visas are issued for the program's lowest allowable wage level, and more than eighty percent for its bottom two. Raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will force companies to give these coveted entry-level jobs to the existing domestic pool of unemployed native and immigrant workers in the U.S., instead of flying in cheaper workers from overseas. This will improve the number of black, Hispanic and female workers in Silicon Valley who have been passed over in favor of the H-1B program. Mark Zuckerberg’s personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H-1Bs that would decimate women and minorities.

Requirement to hire American workers first. Too many visas, like the H-1B, have no such requirement. In the year 2015, with 92 million Americans outside the workforce and incomes collapsing, we need to companies to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed. Petitions for workers should be mailed to the unemployment office, not USCIS.

End welfare abuse. Applicants for entry to the United States should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs before coming to the U.S.

Jobs program for inner city youth. The J-1 visa jobs program for foreign youth will be terminated and replaced with a resume bank for inner city youth provided to all corporate subscribers to the J-1 visa program.

Refugee program for American children. Increase standards for the admission of refugees and asylum-seekers to crack down on abuses. Use the monies saved on expensive refugee programs to help place American children without parents in safer homes and communities, and to improve community safety in high crime neighborhoods in the United States.

Immigration moderation. Before any new green cards are issued to foreign workers abroad, there will be a pause where employers will have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed immigrant and native workers. This will help reverse women's plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages.

The left AND the gopE is in full panic mode. They don’t know whether to crap or go blind. They KNOW that if Trump was to stop tomorrow they still will never get the Trump supporters to vote for them.

Now they’re all going to pull for Hillary. But Hillary is screwing that up for them so right now that leaves Sanders.

They can’t move that far left so that leaves their good friend from the senate Biden. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the gopE isn’t talking to Biden behind closed doors. They truly believe if the moderates/rinos/liberals don’t win it’s the end for them and that scares the hell out of them.

” No, Trump SAYS he will do all those things. Doesn’t mean he will.” -———

That’s a no brainer, a given with EVERY candidate.

“...of course he has no legislative record to hang his hat on, so no actual proof he believes... well anything really.” =====

That seems to be a plus that Trump is outside of the DC political cartel! As for actual proof and a legislative record, we have “actual proof” and and many legislative records that have all together landed our country in the crapper.

It depends on what kind of proof and record you want to call proof and a record.
