Are We Seriously Doing This? Trump Leads Texas Poll
The San Antonio Current ^ | August 20, 2015 | Michael Marks

Posted on 08/20/2015 3:14:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It seems that Texas Republicans, like Republicans everywhere else, have caught Trump fever. Insert your favorite pathology joke here.

Donald Trump is the favored presidential candidate among Texas Republican voters, according to a poll released today by the Texas Bipartisan Justice Committee. The Houston Chronicle reported the results.

Trump leads the poll with 24 percent support. Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who had led most Texas polls up to this point, came in second with 16 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson is the only other candidate to garner more than 10 percent. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Florida Senator Marco Rubio follow close behind.

Trump has proved to be unassailable. Just one of his campaign trail transgressions could have sunk another candidate, but somehow, he’s done more than just stay afloat. Like an aggressive and possibly deadly hot air balloon, he continues to ascend.

Trump’s campaign missteps include:

-labelling Mexicans who cross the southern border rapists

-calling for mass deportation of illegal immigrants (including those with U.S.-born children)

-suggesting that Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly had blood “coming out of her wherever”

-listing his position on just a single issue on his campaign website

-making it clear he was totally joking about those "dating my daughter" comments he made back in 2006

-offering $50 to anyone willing to cheer for him at his campaign announcement

That's an impressive lifetime list for anyone. For Trump to rack up those accolades in just a few months is a monument to his abilities as some sort of rabble-rousing hair piece gremlin.

Still, the surge continues. Trump is Teflon. That’s apparently as true in Texas as anywhere else.

God help us.

You called that one correctly. What everyone has to realize is that Trump PLANS it to be this way. Like the guy or not (and he’s easy not to like, I’ve been watching The Ego for the better part of 30 years), the guy is a brilliant businessman - even his failures work out pretty well for him.

I’ll be honest: I’m for Cruz. I thought that when Trump was considering a run that he was a clown, and wished that he wouldn’t run. Now, however, after quite a number of weeks of him goring every ox out there, I’m quite impressed. He is winning me over - not because he is a doctrinaire conservative, because he is anything but that, but because he has big brass ones and not only doesn’t care what others think of him, he relishes the combat. He is, in short, a winner by personality type and experience. He will, if nominated, win the Presidency. He will, if President, negotiate well for this country and assure that we end up on top. These things are CRITICALLY important.

The political class as a whole has failed for upwards of 50 years - failed to represent us, failed to protect our liberties, failed to guard the product of our labor, failed to protect our nation and vital interests, failed to keep its promises...heck, they have failed to even MEAN TO KEEP the promises. We need to take that dirty old carpet out of the house, hang it up on the clothesline and beat the living $hit out of it before bringing it back in - and Trump is already rolling it up and starting to bring it outside.

No one is perfect, not in life and not in politics. Trump certainly qualifies in both areas. But what he says, he means and usually does. He sees what is going on and is scared to death of continuing business as usual, knowing that a dramatic reversal is necessary to save this nation from decades of socialism/communism, if not actual destruction by the likes of Obama, the Clintons, the Bushes, and the rest of the political class. I’ll do as Reagan advised, take 70% of what I want in politics, be happy and run away with it. Trump will provide the 70%, and if he has Cruz at his side that number may be higher.

Just my $0.02.

Yeah but that was Fred Thompson’s eventual downfall. He was so dumb to refuse to put on that fire station’s hat. It made him look awful. Not sure if it will have the same outcome with Trump as he is changing all the rules.

Most fair-goers know that fair food isn't exactly the best thing... especially after having too much and getting on the rides. Not liking fair food, after trying it, is not exactly the same as dissing firemen by refusing to wear a hat.

I like the Time story where the photographer says Trump has one basic look and he doesn’t cooperate in photo shoots. So, he decided to try a bald eagle.Of course, Dhttp://www.freerepublic.com/perl/post#helponald wasn’t going to turn that one down.

Sam, after his repeated comments about ISIS, how can you say that he doesn’t have a clue about the Islamic threat?

He clearly has his faults. However, the man is one of life’s winners. I’ll take a winner that gives me 70% of what I want, vs. the perfect man who cannot get elected.

Trump isn’t my favorite, Cruz is. But Trump is now my #2, mainly because I believe that he can win. We DESPERATELY need to defeat the Dems, or this country is toast. I’ll take a Trump victory, however imperfect his Presidency might be, over any other Republican’s loss every time.

Please remember what General George S. Patton, Jr. said:

“The Perfect is the enemy of the Good.”

He said it in the context of battle plans, but it applies to politicians, too (and many other things in life, as well).

I am astounded. I had lost all faith in the citizenry. It just goes to show, our government and politicians are rotten to the core. Whether or not Trump means what he says, the people are saying, “we mean what he says”. We can carry him kicking and screaming, and use him like a battering ram. He belongs to us now.

Of course he’s started courting them. They get hit at least as bad as whites by illegals.

The guy is for America First! I have waited for such a person to run for president, since becoming a naturalized US citizen in 1970. I am up to my eyeballs with the milquetoast, go along to get along republicans.

Trump is resonating with voters like no one else!

You should read his book written in 2011 “Time to get Tough”, before making such statement. What he said in his book, is exactly what he is saying now.

Agree. What the MSM and the pundits fail to understand is the power of celebritiy. For 12 years Trump has been in people's homes. They think they know him. He is brash and funny--and successful. Most of all, he is a cheerleader for America, an America that has been depressed and dispirited by Obama who hates this country.

None of the other Reps or the Dems have been able to capture the patriotic spirit and energy of Trump who wants to Make America Great Again.

Even Trump has prepared himself for the fact he will not be maintaining his popularity...that “there will be lows and highs” in his run. Tough he says he is determined to win in the final tally.

It’s still early yet and there’s so many things that can change the tempo of every candidate including Trump. So we will see these dips along the way.....

I can’t help but remember how the Demorats knocked out our guys and gals one after the other early on in the race in the last election. The Demorats have barely begun to fight.
