Cruz Praises Megyn Kelly, Does Not Condemn Trump
The National Review's The Corner ^ | August 8, 2015 | Alexis Levinson

Atlanta — Ted Cruz praised Megyn Kelly in a gaggle with reporters Satuday, but declined to say anything negative about Donald Trump or address the comments Trump made about Kelly.

“That was a decision for RedState to make,” Cruz said of RedState Gathering host Erick Erickson disinviting Trump from the event.

“I think every candidate should treat everyone else with civility and respect. That’s the standard I try to follow, it’s a standard I hope all of us aspire to. I also think that we’re not gonna solve the problems in this country, we’re not gonna defeat the Washington cartel by obsessing over the politics of personalities. This is about real challenges facing the American people. This is about bankrupting our kids and grandkids, defending the bill of rights, and restoring America’s leadership in the world. That’s where my focus has been and it’s where I intend to keep it.”

Asked to directly address the comments, Cruz praised Kelly, calling her “a terrific journalist.”

“I think she does a great job; I think she did a very good job moderating the debate,” he said. ”And I’m not gonna engage in the back and forth on personalities.”

And with that, Cruz shamelessly changed the subject.

“Let me give you a story that is infinitely more important than the momentary bickering between different political candidates, which is what has happened with Gen. Soleimani,” Cruz said, and continued to discourse on the subject for several minutes.

Cruz has been perhaps the most reluctant of the GOP field to criticize Donald Trump. His response to Trump’s comment that McCain was “not a war hero” was similar to his response today: Cruz praised McCain, but declined to say anything about Trump or his comment.

Cruz reached out to Trump and met with him in July. If Trump were to leave the presidential race at some point, many of supporters might choose to back Cruz. Asked Saturday if he was seeking to woo Trump’s voters, Cruz said he was seeking to win over every other candidate’s supporters.

If he’s long fallen from the conservative tree, why would I as a conservative be interested in him?

They are going to say Kasich has the “Conservative Heart”. I’ve already heard that in reference to him. Remember GWB’s “Compassionate Conservative?”

Watch for it - you heard it first here.

Presidential. Unifying. Classy. Staying focused on the issues a leader should be.

“That was a decision for RedState to make,” Cruz said of RedState Gathering host Erick Erickson dis-inviting Trump from the event. “I think every candidate should treat everyone else with civility and respect. All of them are towing the GOPE party line except Cruz.

Any of them get to the White House and not much is going to happen on many of the issue since they and the GOPE agree with Democrat Party.

I gotta tell you, this is not the kind of look I appreciate in woman

I agree with you. I would wager that a lot of men can't even see what probably a majority of women find completely unattractive in Meyghan Kelly. I agree with you about Grace Kelly. True beauty is classy, not slutty. Today's stars...Jennifer Anniston is beautiful.

That is an appropriate role for Mark Levin and other talk show hosts and citizins - to offer personal opinions.
Ted Cruz took the appropriate role of elected Senator, POTUS candidate and POTUS45

“Writing these questions is not beyond her.”

Before the debate it was made clear on several occasions that Megyn, Bret, and Chris were having intense meetings coming up with the questions together.

It's getting hard to imagine Trump as president at all.
He's falling right into the trap and creating a circus side show.
Say whatever you want about the media ratings whores, Trump is self destructing, he is no longer driving the issues, he is becoming a major distraction from the issues.
He should have just went to bed after the debate, he did well enough against the barrage, that was all he needed to do and the polls showed it.
He is being a fool. At least Cruz knows where the battle field really is.

I believe Cruz has conservative principles. But on the H1B Visas, being played on trade, and the big money donations, I’m wondering if he’s trying to do too much too soon. And I’ll stand by my statement that being on the stage with Jeb while many conservatives (not just Trump) weren’t there is probably necessary, but not great.

Yeah, she can't have it both ways. Criticizing Trump for scatalogical statements in the past while ignoring her own *ahem* mistakes in public appearance is a fast road to Hypocrisy Hell.

She may have softened up the hard edged fast Noo Yawk girl look since then but it does no good to pretend it never happened and she's The Proper Girl.

...he knows the issues, and he knows how to win

Kasich is a big government statist lib. It does not matter if knows how to win, because he is going to be business as usual when he wins. Like all other RINO's he will say the right things during campaign season, and go on to be a liberal later. Then he will have a lot of excuses to justify his liberal actions.
