Sen. Ted Cruz rained praise on primary rival Donald Trump Sunday, making a point to contrast himself with the many 2016 Republican presidential contenders who have been sharply critical of the real estate mogul.
Quite a few members of this field have attacked Donald Trump. A lot of folks in the media have asked me Ted Cruz, will you do the same? I have been glad to praise Donald Trump for speaking out boldly and brashly and for focusing on illegal immigration, Cruz said in an interview with POLITICOs Mike Allen at the Koch brothers-funded Freedom Partners summer conference in Dana Point, California.
Cruz added that there was a reason for his reticence to criticize Trump, referring to late President Ronald Reagans 11th Commandment against attacking other Republicans.

When Reagan articulated the 11th Commandment it didnt mean thou shalt not ever disagree with another Republican, Cruz said. He didnt offer specific examples of where he disagreed with Trump. He did say though that he would focus on substance and policy when criticizing his GOP primary rivals.
Trump has surged to the top of the field in polls even as hes received a heavy backlash for saying that Mexico is sending drugs and rapists to the United States through illegal immigration. Trump has also staked out a hard-right position on so-called sanctuary cities, where officials dont detain potential illegal immigrants unless other requirements are also met.
The comments by Cruz illustrate his strategy of running as an unapologetic conservative presidential candidate whos eager to portray the rest of the field as squishy on issues important to primary voters.
In the same interview, the Texas senator left little wiggle room on his position on the environment and global warming.
Listen, facts matter, if you look to the satellite data in the last 18 years, theres been zero recorded warming, Cruz said. Now the global warming alarmists, thats a problem for their theories. Their computer model show massive warming. The satellite says it aint happening.
Asked if global warming was real, Cruz stopped just short of saying no.
Im saying the data and facts dont support it, Cruz said.
Cruz looking better and better. Still there is that pesky Ivy League education. I am still leery of that.
An excellent team to turn this mess around!
Cruz indeed is a smart, consistent conservative.
It is the ONLY team with enough boldness to do what needs to be done. “You are Fired” is absolute necessity due to the condition the country finds itself in.
I agree....they are both fearless.
Would you feen more comfortable if Cruz attended Eureka College? :)
Cruz is a class act. The Koch’s are probably peed he was so honest about at their Rino party.
I definitely believe Cruz is shooting for VP under Trump at this point.
I just hope Trump doesn’t break our hearts and cave on the issues once the election nears (or once elected).
I’m reading Trump’s 2011 book, Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again
This was written four years ago and he outlines all of the ways Dim/0bie/RINO’s are in the process of destroying our country. So much of what he predicted (economy, foreign relations, immigration, etc.) would happen, as a result, has.
He lays out a plan on how to fix this mess. It will take a spine of steel to turn things around. He’s not out to make friends...he’s in it to fix it.
Doesn’t Ted’s suit look too big for him?
At this point it can’t hurt to stay on the Good Side of The Donald.
Yeah, needs some alterations for the sleeves.
Anything can happen of course. However looking at Trump’s age, his current financial status and his lack of any long term political ambitions, I would be surprised and shocked if he becomes weak kneed.
TC is WAY smarter than most Climate “Scientists”.
The last four presidents have had an Ivy League education.
How did that work out for us or the U.S.?
Eureka, West Texas Cow College or Dallas County Community College would all make me more comfortable.
Should be at least a couple of national polls coming out in the next 72 hrs. The late Fox poll for one. Murdock is still tinkering with it. :^)
