Senator Ted Cruz has drawn both praise and scorn for comments made last Friday on the Senate floor. According to the Texas Tribune, Cruz upset some by calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar.
I have listened to the comments of my colleague, the junior senator from Texas, both last week and this week, and I would have to say that he is mistaken, Cornyn said.
At issue: Cruz on Friday accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a Cornyn ally of telling a flat-out lie to Senate Republicans over movement of legislation related to an obscure, controversial federal agency called the Export-Import Bank.
For Senate standards, it was a savaging comment.
Cruz defended his comments on Sunday.
No member of this body should engage in ad hominem attacks directed at any member of this body, be they a Republican or be they a Democrat, Cruz said.
At the same time, I would note that it is entirely consistent with decorum, and with the nature of this body traditionally as the worlds greatest deliberative body, to speak the truth, he added. Speaking the truth about actions is entirely consistent with civility.
Cornyn took the floor immediately after Cruz. He backed McConnells procedural maneuvers that stifled a Cruz amendment on Iran. And Cornyn questioned the legitimacy of Cruzs charges against McConnell.
If the majority leader had somehow misrepresented to 54 senators what the facts are with regards to the Ex-Im Bank, I would suspect that you would find other voices joining that of the junior senator, but I hear no one else making such a similar accusation.
There was no misrepresentation made by the majority leader on the Ex-Im Bank, Cornyn added.
On Mondays edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Republican political strategist Matt Mackowiak said he thought that Cruz may have hurt his future in the Senate.
Cruzs impact as a U.S. Senator is going to be minimal going forward. You know, hes going to be persona non grata within the Senate Republican leadership. And if youre a conservative you may think thats great, but if youre a Texan, you know, you might be wondering what is Cruz going to be doing the rest of his Senate term.

Whatever happened to that proposed law that all government employees would be subject to all laws to which the general public are subject?
I'll go for that in a heartbeat!
I have only two stipulations, the duel must be fought with bare hands and the winner takes all. Victory in this case would mean taking over the unbridled power now in the hands of a treacherous old man whose hands should be bodily removed from the helm of government if he won't go peacefully.
But back in the real world nothing will change, the US congress has become one of the most useless organizations ever devised by the mind of man. The founders never dreamed that a future American government could be so thoroughly corrupted by political chicanery. But then they were honest, decent, truthful patriots and they couldn't even imagine how far from their principled government the 20th and 21st century American government would become.

Turkey Neck lied to everyone who voted to him. He lied to the entire nation. He ran a campaign where he was going to fight Obama, end Obamacare, and fight against amnesty. What was one of his first acts? Push through funding for both amnesty and obamacare. He is a no good damned dirty liar and I would be happy to tell that to McConnel’s face.

re. senate decorum....
Senate Decorum gets tossed aside by the liar. So yeah, I’m not bothered by Cruz. To the contrary, I’m bothered that he’s the only one to take this scumbag to task.
it was 96% just now - LOL
I believe Senator Cruz called McConnell a liar at the right place at the right time and used the proper decorum for the occasion. I admire the Senator’s composure and self-control.

I'm not sure if the picture is okay so I left it as a link ( it's from 'Scanners' of course ) but it really REALLY belongs right next to that photo of Mitch.
Does anyone know if fake gore like that is allowed?
Poor Mitch, He is being blackmailed just like Denny.

It is high time, and past, that those who operate in either the House of Representatives, or, The Senate, be called out for their crimes, misdemeanors, and apparent disloyalty to the American People and the Oath that they took, when they entered office.
