With the GOP poised to take over the Senate and strengthen its control of the House in January, all eyes are now turning to 2016's presidential race. And while Democrats have a single strong contender - paging Hillary Clinton - the Republican side remains up in the air.
The Hill recently listed what 16 possible presidential contenders in what one strategist described as the "most open field we've ever seen."
Here's the likely contenders in the class of 2016:
First String
Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) - One of the most recognizable names in the field, Paul he's comfortable in front of the camera and has the policy chops to back it up. It helps to be seen as a somewhat of an outsider, too.
Gov. Chris Christie (N.J.) - Christie is still a name to be reckoned with even as his image has taken hits from his own home state.
Former Gov. Jeb Bush (Fla.) - There's no better name recognition than "Bush." He has the family legacy on his side, but faces tough questions from GOP stalwarts on his immigration stands....

Rand Paul maybe...I forgot Bobby Jindal as my choice...
No sale.
He was for amnesty before he was against it and buddied up to La Raza before he realized anyone was watching. He had a come to Jesus moment when the strength of the opposition to amnesty here in Texas became to vocal to ignore.
And the whole vomitous Gardasil fiasco demonstrated a man of no character.
OMG that is the funniest gif I’ve seen in ages! Thank you so much for posting.
At this point, I favor a governor who has proven himself like Scott Walker who has survived three elections in four years in a liberal state.
I saw Rick Perry last week in Sarasota and he was impressive....much improved over his last attempt.
But it’s much too early to commit to anyone.
Ted Cruz 38.05% (1,479 votes)
Rand Paul 34.68% (1,348 votes)
Dr. Ben Carson 11.17% (434 votes)
Scott Walker 5.17% (201 votes)
Jeb Bush 4.73% (184 votes)
Mike Huckabee 3.16% (123 votes)
Rick Perry 1.34% (52 votes)
Chris Christie 1.08% (42 votes)
Marco Rubio 0.62% (24 votes)
Total Votes: 3,887
Toss-up between Cruz & Walker.
DITTOS! Wonderfully nice guy, but if he runs he will find that the Democraps have discovered horrible things about him that he never even knew about... As to foreign policy, I suppose good advisors could offset that... ¿quien sabe?
I strongly think that 'our media' is missing the on-rush of Elizabeth Warren, the 1/64 native American Marxist who seems to be seducing the leftist media... Has anyone noticed her campaigning for Dems all over the Untied States in this past election?
Agree entirely. He seems like a nice guy, if a little daffy-sounding at times. He's a surgeon, a city-dweller, a kind of amiable political extemporizer, but he has no idea of the vast conservative heartland of the country, who we all are and how we make this country work every day.
Lets keep it in Cruz Control!
Ted Cruz 36.71% (2,415 votes)
Rand Paul 36.54% (2,404 votes)
Dr. Ben Carson 14.5% (954 votes)
Scott Walker 3.59% (236 votes)
Jeb Bush 3.47% (228 votes)
Mike Huckabee 2.81% (185 votes)
Rick Perry 0.99% (65 votes)
Chris Christie 0.97% (64 votes)
Marco Rubio 0% (28 votes)
Total Votes: 6,579
Cruz.
My choice will be the candidate that best puts the interests of us Americans first and only. Too many candidates have no clue that they should and are required by our Constitution to serve Americans, and not global corporations or other countries.
Looks like some Paulestinians got wind of the poll.

I don’t see Romney. He is maneuvering and testing the water. The power brokers (Rove etc.) want Bush or Romney. Cruz will not get it. After his loss maybe more conservatives will leave a party which insults their beliefs and does’t have the spine to fight liberalism.
I’d vote for Sarah, but I probably won’t get that chance. I’m going to keep my pwoder dry to see who actually get’s in the mix and then support the most conservative candidate.
