Sen. Ted Cruz is in New York City paying visits to some of the nation's most powerful Jewish leaders including a private two-hour session with billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson, the largest donor to Republican causes during the 2012 presidential election to dispel any concerns about Cruz's politics and electability.
The Texas Republican, a likely candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, sat by Adelson during Sunday night's Zionist Organization of America dinner, which featured Cruz in a prominent speaking role, reports The New York Observer.
On Monday, after Cruz and Adelson met privately, a source close to the Venetian casino magnate told the Observer that while he likes Cruz, he also believes he is "too right wing" and is likely to be a long shot for the nomination.
Adelson bristled at the characterization, however, telling the newspaper he was "the only one in a position to know how he felt" about Cruz, the Observer wrote in an updated account.
In addition to Adelson, others attending the dinner on Sunday included attorney Alan Dershowitz, Pastor John Hagee, Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus, billionaire Ira Rennert and Rabbis Avi Weiss and Shmuley Boteach, among others.
Many of those attending said they found Cruz, a Princeton Law School graduate, well-spoken and engaging, the Observer reported....

Besides the fact she infuriated the left, I never cared that much about Sarah Palin; she knew all the applause line slogans to enthuse the base but I never saw much substance. Her stupid flag pin make me even less interested. I am afraid the magic of “because Sarah said so” does not convince me. The dual-flag pin is just a cheap visual slogan; In fact a rather disgusting display of dual-loyalty.
Conservatives and Republicans should not make Israel a do-or-die issue either. Israel is one of many countries competing for our attention.
If we want to help embattled people there is always the White South Africans. That would make more sense; they are White Christian people of European ancestry, just like the (former) majority Americans.
I am pretty sure whoever gets the Republican nomination will genuflect before AIPAC and the Chamber of Commerce. The great American hat-trick will continue without pause: invade the world; invite the world; in debt to the world.
Unless the boss has changed his mind about the statement, "Free Republic is Palin Country" hasn't been rescinded. The last time I checked, FReeper stalwarts onyx and KC Lion (pinged out of courtesy), both of whom are far more connected than I am can confirm that. I think that Sarah Palin's intelligence is second to none and her love of America is undeniable. She is a person of substance and is right for the Republic. In fact, Senator Ted Cruz owes his election to the influence of Governor Sarah Palin.
Pat Buchanan, is that you?
As do Pat Roberts, Dave Brat, Tim Scott, Joni Ernst and a bunch of others.
Free Republic IS Palin Country!
Thank you for the ping, dearest re_nortex!!

The American Conservative just came out with this article on Ted Cruz, I’m reading it now. Maybe some of the Cruz supporters might want to post it if it is good.
Maybe I take back remark, the website “The Conservative American” often isn’t but the write-up on the economy is a bit interesting.
The Jews are a separate people, distinct from the White Christian Europeans who established the United States and formed the core of its population (until the disastrous 1965 Hart-Celler immigration act); our destinies are not linked......The dual-flag pin is just a cheap visual slogan; In fact a rather disgusting display of dual-loyalty
Pardon?
Last time I looked in the Mirror, which was.... just now in my room. I have white skin, my Father and Mother hail from Germany and the U.K. respectively. So what would make me different?
Oh, is it the fact that I might be JEWISH!? Yes, apparently I need to cash out the time both my Father and I spend in the United States Military because of that >:(
Quick History Lesson. Who Financed The American Revolution?
Haym Salomon, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haym_Salomon
Oh, That is right it has to do with Money! Silly me, isn't that what we are best at? >:(
A disgusting disgusting display of dual loyalty?
Israel is G-d's Country!
You think the price for supporting Israel is high? Imagine how much it would cost if we didn't >:(
Sarah has and inner Hebrew and it speaks for a Love of Israel.
Why is George Washington a Titan Amoung Men? Because when he went to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, Rhode Island and said this:
To Bigotry No Sanction; to Persecution No Assistance
Maybe you should reread that sometime.
KC Lion -- your post this evening may be among the very best of the lot. It's informative, factual, passionate, Godly and reveals a profound love of your wonderful parents as well as a deep love of America.
Thank you very much for stating with such clarity what really needs to be said.
Amen.
I wish you could have met him in person in Texas at our Memerial Shoot in October.
Maybe one day.
I love KC_Lion.
Memorial.
You are really too kind.
Onyx I wish I could spend Thanksgiving with you! (((HUGS!)))
Hey KC, when you get a moment from doing evil and ruling the world from behind the scenes,, could you loan me a few grand? I figure 60K or so will do it. All Jews have that lying around anyway so you won’t miss it. I need a new mixing desk.
What does that mean?
He's looking for financial support.
Distinctness as a people is more than skin color, it is about ancestry; not so much who’s your daddy? but who’s your great-great-grandaddy? Jews have had a history of thousands of years as a self-identified group. Jews are concerned with inter marriage (marriage of Jews to non-Jews) this is a concern of many secular Jews as well, so it is not about religious practice. We have the phrase ‘anti-Semitism’ for criticism of Jews; if they were not a distinct people there would be no need for such a phrase, as such criticism rarely relates to Jewish religious practice. Israel has considered a DNA test for those seeking residence under Right of Return. This all sounds like a distinct people, or at least those who consider themselves a distinct people.

The French also helped in the American Revolution but are now dismissed by conservatives as ‘cheese eating surrender monkeys.’ Just because our interests aligned then does not mean they do for all of time. The fact the French helped us once, does not seem to matter to many conservatives now. In the same way that a Jewish business man helped finance the Revolutionary war does not mean we are forever tied to Israel (which did not even exist then) or Jewish interests. This does not mean hostility, just a recognition that we are separate and may at times have diverging interests.
If Israel is God’s country then let Him protect it. I do not see why it becomes America’s job. The belief that if we do not forever stand by Israel and the Jews then God will smite us makes about as much sense as the Islamic belief in 72 virgins for those suiciding themselves ‘for Allah.’ If you are concerned with acts of Islamic violence then a good start would be preventing Islamics moving to our countries rather than us invading theirs.
Not tying ourselves so completely to Israel is no more ‘bigotry’ then not tying ourselves to Britain (who provided our founding stock) or Germany (people of German ancestry are perhaps the largest group in the US even ahead of British, Irish etc.). Recognizing that we are different and separate is no worse than recognizing that our friendly neighbor is not family; we can remain cordial but aware that we will not always have the same hopes, desires, or interests.
It is funny how conservatives get all self-righteous about ‘bigotry’ when the subject is Israel but can be vicious when it comes to Africans, Muslims, or even the aforementioned French. Criticism or Israel (or even Jewish) activities is no worse than criticism of African or Muslim behaviour.
If Cruz sells out to Sheldon Adelson then he is no friend of America.
