It's probably no secret to anyone who reads my column regularly that I will not be voting for either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton for president.
But I also will not be voting for John McCain.
I could tell you all the reasons and have expressed them already in a number of columns in recent months. But this time, I'll let someone with whom I seldom agree express them for me.
His name is Jonathan Chait, a senior editor at The New Republic. Here's what he wrote in that magazine:
"Even though it is in the public record, McCain's voting behavior during Bush's first term is almost never mentioned in the press anymore. Yet McCain's secret history is simply astonishing. It is no exaggeration to say that, during this crucial period, McCain was the most effective advocate of the Democratic agenda in Washington.

Yeah yeah yeah, I want Obama, Hillary, the destruction of the United States (too late it's already done), yada yada yada. I can and will say when it's all over with that I had nothing whatsoever to do with whoever is in charge. I'm going to vote for a conservative for President. Whether the Ratlight party wants to give me one to vote for or not. This is America and I can do that.
Give me a candidate I can vote for. No more holding my nose.
Have fun
Cute. There are several more people that have been here longer, a lot longer than I that are not voting for that backstabbing POS with an “R” after his name.
Hear Hear !!
I will not cast my precious vote for any of the three Democrat Socialists running.
You know, if the Libertarian Party wants to become a major political player in this country, here is their chance.
Right now, you have a LOT of marginalized, disaffected conservatives out there. While one could make the case that “Well, Bob Barr might splinter the right the way Perot did in ‘92”, and I can certainly envision that, this is still a golden opportunity for them.
If the Libertarians want to be known as something more substantial than a “pot should be legal” party and make some actual geniune noise, now is the time.
Many of the same kind of things can also just as equally be said about the Constitution Party.
Okay.
“So I guess you were not happy when you voted in the democratic congress.”
I didn’t vote for Democrats, stop assuming that your parties’ liberals are owed my vote.
I still say they ought to find a way to merge, a Barr/Baldwin ticket would be interesting.
If you didn’t vote then you voted Democrat.
“Since you are only a member since 2007 I find it ironic that you feel free to speak for other patriotic freepers.”
You think that there are NOT long timers here that refuse to vote for that backstabbing POS?
Patriotic FReepers? All (I believe) FReepers love our nation. We do not all, nor should we all love the GOLP or Grand Old Liberal Party.
Last I checked, this was NOT Free RepublicAN.
“If you didnt vote then you voted Democrat.”
Neither you nor your moderate/squish/quasi left wing party is OWED my vote.
You have a very interesting posting history here. It seems your only goal in all of your posts is to make sure the current Republican candidates lose and the Democrats win. You cannot deny you posting history. I am convinced now that you are a DU troll.
Some people are just stuck on stupid. If you have two $hit sandwiches (Hillary/Obama) or a douchebag (McCain) vote for the douchebag or be ready to eat poo for 4 to 8 years.
