The number of homosexual and bisexual men in the United States diagnosed with the AIDS virus has risen for a third year, raising concerns about a revival of the epidemic, a federal health agency said yesterday.

According to preliminary data from 25 states, new HIV cases among men who have sex with men rose 7.1 percent between 2001 and 2002, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Maybe the SCOTUS had early data on this and made their decision in Lawrence vs Texas on a deep down hatred of gays, hoping that by decriminalizing sodomy and telling the world that pervert sex is OK, the side-effects of this decision would be to increase the rate of infection and have them Darwin out in greater numbers. </sarcasm>

Rats can't get a break. They were all giddy over convicted rapists, swindlers, car-jackers, dope dealers and pimps in Florida getting their right to vote restored and now that is offset by this.

"The safer-sex message is not working. If gay men haven't heard of HIV and health risks, nobody has,"

But I thought it's not a "gay" disease.

"Maybe it's time for the CDC and federal government to research the particular health risks associated with gay sex," said Mr. LaBarbera. "The federal government studies the health risks of smoking. Maybe there needs to be some public education on the risks [of homosexuality.]"

I think they have already done that. Surely Mr. LaBarbera is not recommending a warning label on gay men, promiscuous people of both sexes, or drug users. Not too much sarcasm intended... Scary thoughts of tattoos here. ;)

This story reminds me of this story:
Gay Ed goes into the doctor's office and has some tests run.
The doctor comes back and says "Ed, I'm not going to beat around the bush. You have AIDS."
Ed is devastated. "Doc, what can I do?"
"Eat 1 sausage, 1 head of cabbage, 20 unpeeled carrots drenched in hot sauce, 10 Jalapeno peppers, 40 walnuts and 40 peanuts, 1/2 box of Grapenuts cereal, and top it off with a gallon of prune juice."
Ed asks, "Will that cure me, Doc?"
Doc says, "No, but it should leave you with a better understanding of what your a$$ is for."

Ya think?

Telling the truth is a good place to start. Now how about getting the truth out that thousands have left the homosexual lifestyle.

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest homosexual-rights group, said the new HIV numbers were "a wake-up call" for a comprehensive, science-based plan to prevent AIDS.

I got a science-based plan. It's called abstinence. Like Rush says (different context), it works every time it's tried.

BTW, the percentages of AIDS from heterosexual contact look much higher than any I've seen before. I wonder why? Is it because of men acting bisexual?

There is so much truth to tell and yet people seem so disinclined to pursue truth.

You have a great list of pertinent articles and you post quite a bit. Do you get any private responses telling you that your information was valuable to them and caused them to rethink and change their position on homosexuality?

In other news: Another study has revealed that a case of diarrhea will ease the pain and discomfort of constipation.

And you wonder why liberals think such an unhealthy lifestyle is so cool.

I think maybe the rise in AIDS infections is that recent medical developments have made it appear that AIDS is a livable and manageable inconvenience, like diabetes, instead of a fairly quick and ugly death sentence. Also, I think maybe gay men got tired of the discipline required for "safe sex".

There was also a portion of the gay population that regarded AIDS infection as a badge of authenticity, or proof of popularity or something else good.

Getting someone to rethink their position on anything is a difficult task and is one of the reasons I'm trying to change my approach on the issue of homosexuality. To answer your question I'd say it's rare when someone has rethought their position on homosexuality. It happens but it's rare.

Sometimes I'll get a ping or a freepmail from someone I don't recognize and that at least tells me folks are reading the threads. Also, we do have former homosexuals on FreeRepublic.

What I find frustrating are some freepers refuse to acknowledge the facts of homosexuality. Live and let live some say, and to a point I agree, just don't tell me the facts are wrong or misconstrued without something to back it up.
