Most people cringe at the sight of a pregnant woman smoking. Some people feel strongly enough to say something in protest. But one local man took matters into his own hands early Friday when, according to police, he shot an expectant mother who refused to put out her cigarette.

The hate will stop once the price of cigarettes stabilizes at a "desirable level." Already the early "scientific studies" are indicating that smoking stops or retards the progress of neurological diseases. The outcome being "cigarettes are desirable if used in moderation." What we are really seeing are the giant property seizures attendant upon a dying Republic. The historical analogy being Sulla and his times. All means of seizing property will increase in frequency and intensity as desperate office holders seek ever increasing amounts of cash with which to purchase followers.

"If I have the righ to bear arms, then I have the right to own a nuclear bomb - if you say no, then you are for gun control."

That is one of the dumbest statements I have heard in awhile.

Obviously, the shooter was in the wrong for pulling a gun, firing in the air, aiming at the woman, and either intentionally or negligently shooting her.

Equally obvious is that a gun misfired when not aimed at her, then reportedly injured her when negligently aimed at her and being evaluated for its misfire.

The comment might make more sense if one had seen the movie "The Omen". In that movie a number of bizarre 'accidents' also occur.

Obviously a pregnent womean who smokes isn't placing the health of her baby foremost in her behavior. Obviously, the person aiming a gun at her is liable if not wholly guilty of the harm.

Obviously, the gun shouldn't have misfired when shot in the air and obviously after being jammed shouldn't have fired into the woman.

Regardless of the obvious, the woman was still injured. My suggestion is that perhaps the not so obvious is a causal factor for the woman.

Was this shooting deliberate or an accident. Was the strange man intent on harming the women? The way the article is written leaves many questions. Was the anger the man displayed towards the women uunjustified when you take into consideration the fact the smoking while pregnant contributes to birth defects, low birth rate, down syndrome, etc... Who will pick up the tab when this women delivers an unhealthy baby because she exercised her right to smoke, therby poisoning and injuring her unborn baby? I have no problems with people smoking if that's what they want to do, but when it hurts somebody else, there has to be a trade off. The guy obviously was a nut job. It's one thing to berate someone and qujite another to pull out a handgun and start busting caps.

Oh come on now. It is certainly irresponsible for a mother to smoke while pregnant, but it is really none of our business and is not our place to make that choice for her.

Figured you'd be a racist. Not only a racist, but also someone who spouts off about things they know nothing about. Have you examined the link between NRA membership and illegal use of firearms? I thought not. The number of people even charged with firearm violations who are members of the NRA is miniscule.

But don't let things like "facts" or "truth" or even "logic" affect your ranting, otherwise you wouldn't have a thing to say.

"chances are high that the shooter is an NRA member"

The chance of the MD killer being an NRA member is zero. NRA members are so , because they have a decided care for their fellow's rights and Freedom. If it wasn't for folks like those in the NRA, the entire world would be under the control of a bunch of tyrants.

I didn't say that... That would make the shooter right. I said all of the people in this story are wrong. An embarrassment... This is right out of Jerry Springer.

Oh! Ok! Sorry!

This illustrates perfectly and as clearly as needed the attitude of the anti-smoking Nazis. What could be clearer?
The societal equivalent of "we had to destroy the village in order to save it".

Controlling sicko neurotics have been given license to rail and apparently now kill in the name of anything "PC".
Is anyone surprised?

When must we do something about it?
