CITY COUNCIL HEARING DATE IS SET - (CONFIRMED)

IF EVER YOU WANTED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND LET OUR LEADERS KNOW YOU FIND THEIR BEHAVIOR UNACCEPTABLE, NOW IS THE TIME TO DO SO!

YOU MUST ATTEND THE CITY COUNCIL HEARING

*CONFIRMED DATE:  THURSDAY, OCT. 10th, 1PM 

PLACE:  CITY HALL, COUNCIL CHAMBERS

* Date and time is always subject to change by the council.

 Please call the Speaker's Office at 212-788-7210 a few days before to confirm.

LET'S FILL THE CHAMBERS WITH ALL THOSE OPPOSED.  LET US SPILL OUT INTO THE HALLWAY AND ONTO THE FRONT STEPS OF CITY HALL.  LET'S MAKE SOME NOISE!

NO ONE HAS TO BUT ANYONE WISHING TO SPEAK TO THE COUNCIL TO TELL THEM EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS SMOKING BAN CAN SIGN UP TO DO SO WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

ONLY A LARGE SHOW OF OPPOSITION WILL HAVE ANY IMPACT. 

TIME TO OUTNUMBER THE ANTI-SMOKER CRUSADERS

AND RUN THEM OUT OF OUR TOWN!

try getting life insurance if you smoke and are a little old. Not for any price yo would want to pay. Perhaps the best solution is to establish smoking bars where only smokers or those ewho do not care one way or the other go.

Well if you belive that is what this country is coming too, than leave it, we dont need low IQ neaderthals here anyway.

It would be rude to point out that even the Neandertals here can spell the words "believe" and "Neandertal" (or even "Neanderthal" as some spell it). But doing so would be rude, especially when directed toward a poster whose favorite school's football team is widely known by the sobriquet "Criminoles."

I have family that was stationed at Beale Air Force Base, California. They recently transferred to another base. However, they both smoke, and went off base to restaurants/bars where they were allowed to smoke. And business was booming.

You say not many smoke in California anymore? They didn't find that to be the case. A LOT of people still smoke out in California.

While not a smoking nazi I fail to see why I have to smell like an ashtray so you can kill your self. Smokers bars and restaurants would be the way to do this. We disagree with you but do not hate you. Pity would be a better word for how we view you. The same way I would an alcoholic. Slowly killing yourself. Have fun. You will look stunning with a designer oxygen bottle in tow. And those tubes in the nostrils make such a statement. "Look at me! I was a dumb ass smoker and now I cannot walk twenty feet without being exhausted. Cool huh"?

I seriously doubt that. The only way they can determine the number of smokers is by an estimate using the tax revenues from tobacco. Many, many Californias are not buying instate rather than pay the extortionate taxes. Additionally California smokers are not going out as much as in the past, so the impression is that less are smoking.

In the first month of the 1.50 increase in the NYC tax increase, pack sales dropped by 57% - no way did 57% of smokers quit - they are just purchasing elsewhere.
