But some smokers say there's an easy solution: creating 'smoking beaches' along the lines of nude beaches and dog-friendly beaches.

How about a beach for nude smokers with dogs.

Advocates cite health hazards and problems with litter as the main reasons behind the ban.

Why don't we send these do-gooders down at the border & see the mess these ILLEGALS have made.

"This is a public area that we're trying to protect for the public and protect against the harmful effects of secondhand smoke."

He just HAD to get that part in there. SHS OUTSIDE, for cripes sake.

It's going to come down to "shoot the smoker" eventually.
Better stock up on ammo and smokes now, before it's too late.

Sound like a great idea, a no-whiner zone.

Santa Monica, San Clemente and Solana Beach have banned lighting up on the sand.

Rent a raft, paddle out past the breakers and then light up! Remember, though, never blow any smoke in the direction of the sand.

We were on a beach in Florida for about 3 minutes until it was obvious there were more cig butts than sand. I'd never seen such. It was as if a restraunt or other business had used that beach to dump their butts daily for quite some time. It was disgusting.

Hey, I have an aversion to ugly women in Berkenstocks who don't shave their legs, but you don't see me calling for a ban on San Francisco, do you? They used to put cans with sand in them outside of entrances so people could snuff out their butts before entering the building. As far as I am concerned that makes the beach one giant butt can!!!!

I don't know why you keep pinging me on these anti-smoking threads you post! I get home from a bad day at work, pour myself a martini, sit down at my computer, log on to FR, light up a cigarette, access my alert only to find more of the sameo sameo! !! Stop it!

OK, so maybe I asked to be put on your list. Now that I've had a chance to vent, keep me on it.

There is no way I would ever consider living in that state, people out there are just too damn weird........Bath houses yea, smoking nay!

Yep, if they had the actual courage to really care about health, they should just ban cig sales in the state of Kali.

These cities should have any revenues generated from tobacco (Settlement or tax) removed from their budgets.
