I find myself asking just what the hell was the point of serving this country? Why the hell did we bother?

Some of us who did time in Iraq are asking the exact same question, believe me.

We were betrayed and lied to and did not know it. Don’t get me wrong I have two Purple Hearts and thought I was patriotic.

“My father was bombing Hanoi in 1972. He should have been bombing American college campuses.”

Well, that’s kind of harsh. But I can appreciate the sentiment.

Yeah she was, but tatts on chicks are nasty and menopause destroys women.
It’s like Kryptonite to women.

I had many friends and relatives who served, but I graduated just as the war ended.

I took a month and traveled Vietnam from top to bottom. Even floated down the Mekong River from Thailand, through Laos and down to the delta.

Crawled through some of the tunnels and saw the various man traps with spikes. Can only imagine what it was like.

My hat is off to those who served.

It was another Democrat President, Johnson, that really escalated the war for his own politics. Some things never change.

Thank you for your service.

Some clarification, unless you are Susanna Hoffs, Jennifer Connelly, or Jennifer Beals.

They clearly cast spells...

I often think about how your generation that served in Vietnam was screwed. I hope you can take comfort in the thought that many of us know you were wronged and express it to others frequently.

For those that served in Vietnam, the cultural treatment now is essentially neglect vs. the hero culture granted to the WWII generation. It’s not right.

The old Soviet Union was scary.

They had a political system that said they had to rule the world.

We really weakened them in Vietnam.

The fight in Vietnam helped to end the Soviet Union and the case for world communism.

Thankyou to those Americans who fought in Vietnam and helped to end the nightmare of a world ruled by a communist dictatorship.

At a similar age, I ask when did Viet Nam become Vietnam? At a same time, is/was the battle ribbon changed from ‘RVN’ to ‘RV’?

Regardless of these minuscule nits, we were dropped by our commanders and I have every reason to believe the same will happen to those who strained and bled in the ‘Sandpile’, ‘Rockpile’ and the WoT. God bless them all and keep their memories ever green/khaki/camo and whatever blue was being worn that year that the DD214 was closed out!

“ Isn't it odd, that there are no anti-war protestors
nowadays? Where is code pink?

Here in my red state
Anti war libtards came out of the woodwork overnight and started squawking for media cameras sucking it up because ….. Trump droned the Iranian slimeball terrorist Salami! Now it’s nothing but crickets like they don’t even exist

Isn’t it odd, that there are no anti-war protestors nowadays?

I wonder if that has something to do with the drug addicted, whore-monger sons of white liberal 'elites' having access to great jobs and cash laundering privileges in Ukraine and other corrupt hellholes?

We could ask Hunter Biden if the FBI wasn't so careful about protecting him...

50 corrupt 'intelligence' thugs DID sign and publish a letter saying Hunter's laptop was Russian Disinformation...

Can we assume a fair number of those 'intelligence' thugs have sons, daughters, or lovers(gay and straight) who want in on the $60,000 A MONTH jobs like Hunter had... or million dollar diamonds like China offers our 'elites'?

“There was a mystique about combat, and the drugs were good???”

There were plenty of drugs.

My Dad was a World War II vet and a VA Hospital Volunteer - he came around to believe that the Viet Nam Vets who were spending the rest of their lives in a crappy VA Hospital were betrayed by our Government.

George Carlin said it best:

“…the war in Vietnam, which has only been over for about sixteen or seventeen years, and thanks to the lies and deceits surrounding that war, I guess it’s no surprise that the very same condition was called “Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.” Still eight syllables, but we’ve added a hyphen! And the pain is completely buried under jargon. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I’ll bet you if we’d have still been calling it ‘Shellshock’, some of those Vietnam veterans might have gotten the attention they needed at the time. I’ll betcha that. I’ll betcha that.”

I’m a vet...
Got into a little discussion with my sister about VA benefits...
She said that the pubs would set things right when they get back in power...
I pointed out to her that every significant piece of legislation for veterans was written and passed by democommies.

Just a little piece of information to chew on

The desire and willingness to do ones part, to execute the duty of a citizen, is completely honorable and will always be.

The unfortunate side is the misuse and abuse of these patriotic citizens by the American aristocracy that ‘leads’ the nation.

When you feel melancholy, remind yourself that so many did not survive to contemplate such things.

58K+ souls gone and many more never met their potential. Forced to do the work of politicians who made sure their sons, brothers and friends never went.

Where is code pink?

Flatus I. Maximus :"Running around waving Ukranian flags and trying to get us into a nuclear war with Russia."

And those from the teachers union, who run around with the Ukrainian flags
wrongly displayed upside down, because it is the political "cause de jour" (political cause of the day).
You can inform the ignorant, but,.. you can't cure willful stupidity !
