on hold with the VA for almost a full hour post op complications, maybe neighbor said my wounds are warm, they are all asking me to go to ER VA finally answers. I was so angry, I told her I was waiting 55 minutes for someone to answer the phone, what is going on?? she said, "Do you need any help from me?" I said, "I am not sure, I think I might need to go to the ER." She said, "Well, then, just go." Didn't want to discuss symptoms with me at all, anything about my condition, nothing to reassure or confirm me, just, "Well then, just go." The VA is a criminal organization that does not provide adequate care for veterans, and it cannot be fixed.
Race, are you on any post operative antibiotic? This is usually done IV in post op, and then a by mouth tablet version when discharged. If not and you are feverish and/or the surgical wound site is red/swollen/ hot..... get to an ER, so they can start an IV drip antibiotic.. right away.
Yep, go to the ER.
If you go immediately to the emergency department of your nearest hospital, IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE. If it turns out to be nothing, the downside would be a few hours of wasted time.
If you go to bed instead, if this is sepsis, YOU MAY BE DEAD BY MORNING.
Dude. Go to ER.
I’m in and out of the VA near me all the time. Its like a DMV with some doctors & nurses. And talk about bloated. They have an entire on-site police department with an idle fleet of brand new cruisers and motorized stand-up trikes. Their ER is perpetually “on diversion”. We get frequent 911 calls from freshly discharged vets experiencing complications. The last guy had a basal cell carcinoma removed ... on blood thinners, bleeding profusely, less than a mile from the door. We radio patch into the ER and they tell us to bring him to another hospital.
I hope you’ve taken the advice here, and you’re at the ER. I’m praying for you. Please let us know how you’re doing.
I’ve had similar experiences.
Don’t let them kill you. If things are really bad and they won’t act, go to a civilian hospital.
Better to be alive, I think.
Why not go to the ER?
The VA pays for it if a “reasonable person would think they had an emergency”
No doctor could diagnose you over the phone.
I’ve been very happy with the VA.
Don't like that....
Anyone!!!????
Abolished? To be replaced with what?
The next administration will get the VA ‘fixed’.
pinging ‘nutmeg’ who if my memory serves me knows Race /
Ask for her.
If you feel unsure go to the ER. Ask yourself what would an illegal alien do? Don’t worry about it just go.
My frustration was that she didn’t even ask me why, what was wrong, she just blew me off
Here at Piedmont ER, 1.5 hours, waiting for blood and pee test results
No, no post op antibiotic, just oxycodones
Actually, no, I disagree.
The Vets admin going tango uniform has been in the making ever since the federal civil service started hiring lefties. The entire federal government is that way, and those little peons back when Clinton started it are now on their way up the ladder. They are in charge now, and if there is any one group of Americans lefties really hate, it’s vets.
Now obama did speed things along when he could have stopped it, but he’s not the cause.
The whole damn outfit needs to be dumped, thrown out, discarded.
Place the vets care in the private sector administered by the military, such as each states NG commander. It will cost a whole lot less, and the vets get the same care anyone else gets.
I applied for simple medical benefits last May, still no word. They are just pathetic.
Please keep us informed... prayers have been sent.
Thank you ð
Being prepped for a CT scan now of my belly, should be an hour
Sick feeling, weak, still there but no worse
#1 The VA has an “Ask a Nurse” line that has always answered for me in a minute or two. Tell them what your symptoms and they will make a recommendation. In my case it was “Go to the ER now.”
#2 Go to the ER - either at the VA or at your closest hospital. If your symptoms are reasonable, the VA will cover the expenses for the other ER.
