Brooke Foss Westcott (1825-1903) and Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828-1892) have been highly controversial figures in biblical history.

Wescott and Hort were clearly behind many of the new -watered down bible versions today. I read a great book by Riplinger, "New Age Bible Version", wow what an eye opener.
