I don't necessarily agree with all of these suggestions, but I thought it might be an interesting discussion if any of you have done any of these. They have to do more with tracts, and I have only dealt with them when we had a booth at the State Fair.

Share your experiences if you wish!

#13 Live your life in a manner which testifies to the Truth. IOW, Catholics, live your faith!

By their fruits shall they be known

I like James Akin, and have learned a lot from him. He makes evangelizing easier because to do so effectively one must be able to engage in apologetics. Many of his suggestions here I am not sure I would do, but I applaud his effort. I use this forum as my springboard, as I am sure many others do also. =)

I use this forum as my springboard,

So do I. And I agree with goldenstategirl above that living your faith is one of the best ways of evangelization.

We must have our faith together for us before we can reach out to others, whether they be family, friends, the unchurched or former Catholics. Then we can think about changing society by writing a letter to the editor, helping with signature drives for pro-life issues, etc.

However, one of the best tools that I think any of us can use is the telling of our own faith story. It's really not hard to get someone around to that topic in a conversation, and then I share my story and leave it with an invitation to join me at Mass and I give her/him the times. (Our church printed up business cards with the Mass times on them.) They are great to hand out after such a conversation.

I have some disagreements with the Catholic faith, but that is an issue for a different day and thread.

I will say that in general I like the suggestions. I have to admit that I have left many Christian tracts as part of a tip, handed them out with bill payments, given them to cashiers at drive through windows, have sent them in bill payments, and have even left some in rest rooms where I have seen of obscene writting on the walls. I believe in them and feel they are an easy way to reach someone.

I really like the idea of having a video to show the next time a Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons comes to my door.... That should be fun....

Agreed, as I posted my conversion story on another thread and have done so on other occasions where I think it may do some good. And you are both right that living the faith is the best example to others. Many people really aren't familiar with our way of life and find it amazing that people can be true to their word, willing to help others for no reason, and loving and forgiving someone even when treated wrongly.

true story...last night I worked our Parish Booth at the local Fair. I stopped at the Gideon Booth to look at their literature and spoke with the gentleman there. We of course, discussed Faith and he shared that some of his best friends were Catholic.
He was most impressed by a co-worker that faithfully attended Mass when they were out of town on business trips that ran over a weekend.
Living your faith is definitely the Number 1 thing to remember.

I also keep all kinds of tapes, books and literature around and try to give it away at every opportunity :)

When I started homeschooling I joined a statewide email conference to get some perspective on the complicated homeschool law here. People were constantly complaining about it or siting cases of harrassment or abuse by the school districts.

To give my view point, of how immoral the current law is, I started posted quotes from the CCC and the Papal encyclicals. That really stirred the pot, so to speak, there was some flack flying too but many in the Protestant HSing community started to examine their own church beliefs and the usurpation of parental rights became apparent to many who initially thought they just had to accept it and be obedient to the lousy law.

The initial outcome of my repetitive posting of the CCC is a bill in the house education committee for a new HS law that reflects the Catholic teachings. The interesting thing we discovered as the final drafts for the bill were haggled over, was that the current law isn't in compliance with federal code...and the federal code reflects the Catholic teaching on the primacy of the parent in educational matters.

The secondary outcome is that I've passed on the cyber links for the CCC more than I can count on my hands. We have an uphill battle with our bill as the NEA puts lots of moola into the pockets of the house education committee so I ask for prayers that HB2560 gets passed.

Amen to rule #13! And, now for rule #

14. Call Bill Donahue at the Catholic League if you see something that makes you angry! If he can't put a stop to it, no one can!

Too bad there weren't any smart Catholics around to teach Paul about the 12 Painless Ways to Evangelize!

You hit paydirt here!

And prayers that HB2560 gets passed are being prayed right now!

"Too bad there weren't any smart Catholics around to teach Paul about the 12 Painless Ways to Evangelize!"

And, as in Islam, if the "painless way" doesn't work, "other options" are always kept open.

As you know, the Roman church has _never retracted_ its official denial of religious freedom and its right to use violence to force people to accept its doctrines. In "Catholic" countries the Bible is still shunned as "dangerous.” As documented by the Hefleys in their book, By Their Blood: Christian Martyrs Of The 20th Century, (Mott Media, 1979), wherever the Church of Rome has political power, it still does all it can to keep the closed canon of Scripture away from the people.

The Mormons came knocking this past Saturday, just as I was about to sit down to watch the Youth Day Vespers on EWTN. After introducing themselves, I invited them in to watch the program. They thanked me for the offer but declined to come in. They said they would consider the offer, if time allowed. Since they never returned, I'll guess they made a hasty exit from the community.

Catholic Answers and the Knights of Columbus are good sources of tracts explaining and illuminating our holy Apostolic Faith. If nothing else, some of them are good to have on hand if the Mormons, Adventists, et al. come calling. "Yes 'Elder' Jones I'll be happy to take one of yours if you take one of mine..."

"Yes 'Elder' Jones I'll be happy to take one of yours if you take one of mine..."

I've done that and then asked God to bless them. They seem all wrought up over something when that happens.

Shouldn't you guys be on a Calvin thread revelling in the condemnation of others? After all, you chosen folks shouldn't be slumming with the heretics. Especially you, St. Woody. I mean, we all know that your above us in your piousness in Christian behavior. You shame yourself by even coming on a thread with members who worship with the whore of babylon. You should go quickly and find an elitist thread where there is salvation for thee, but not for me.
