I like James Akin, and have learned a lot from him. He makes evangelizing easier because to do so effectively one must be able to engage in apologetics. Many of his suggestions here I am not sure I would do, but I applaud his effort. I use this forum as my springboard, as I am sure many others do also. =)

I use this forum as my springboard,

So do I. And I agree with goldenstategirl above that living your faith is one of the best ways of evangelization.

We must have our faith together for us before we can reach out to others, whether they be family, friends, the unchurched or former Catholics. Then we can think about changing society by writing a letter to the editor, helping with signature drives for pro-life issues, etc.

However, one of the best tools that I think any of us can use is the telling of our own faith story. It's really not hard to get someone around to that topic in a conversation, and then I share my story and leave it with an invitation to join me at Mass and I give her/him the times. (Our church printed up business cards with the Mass times on them.) They are great to hand out after such a conversation.

true story...last night I worked our Parish Booth at the local Fair. I stopped at the Gideon Booth to look at their literature and spoke with the gentleman there. We of course, discussed Faith and he shared that some of his best friends were Catholic.
He was most impressed by a co-worker that faithfully attended Mass when they were out of town on business trips that ran over a weekend.
Living your faith is definitely the Number 1 thing to remember.

I also keep all kinds of tapes, books and literature around and try to give it away at every opportunity :)
