A friend of C.S. Lewis' stepson claimed...that members of the late author's family are "very upset" by Meryl Streep's casting as Aslan in Netflix's upcoming Narnia adaptation...
Baehr...explained that the casting of a female actor to portray Aslan presents "lots of issues"...
"One, it's beloved...But there's a deeper issue, which is the theological issue," he said, noting the serious theological implications of tinkering with the gender identity of Aslan — a character Lewis described as the incarnation of Christ in a world like Narnia.

The Last Battle, which reflects Lewis' eschatology and views on modern apostasy, tells the story of an old, manipulative ape named Shift convincing a gullible donkey named Puzzle to masquerade as Aslan by wearing the skin suit of a lion. Shift deceives many of the talking animals of Narnia into following the false, ultimately demonic Aslan named "Tashlan," which is the name some critics on social media have assigned to Streep's version of the character.

Nathaniel Tolkien spent his whole life resisting efforts to distort his Father’s works with some kind of agenda. After he died that is exactly what happened after Amazon bought the rights . The woke also ruined the Star Wars franchise after that was sold. At least George Lucas got a billion for it.
I’m sure they sold the rights long ago, and not being Hollywood scum, did not know how to structure the contract to prevent things like this.
I think one thing Rowling did brilliantly was recognize the viper pit she was dealing with and retain a good deal of creative control of her art.
I think the director justified the move on the grounds that in Shakespeare's time, male actors often played female characters. But that doesn't change the fact that the characters were written as male or female.

Sounds like the stepson, et al., has a legal interest. Problem is that it appears they made a deal with an actual devil, i.e., Netflix. Of course Netflix is going to destroy as much as possible re Lewis’ Christian ideology.
This is one movie I will never see.
