Father Abraham Had Many Sons
Ligonier ^ | Chris Donato

This may bring to mind that elementary school Bible song:

Father Abraham had many sons,
Many sons had father Abraham,
I am one of them and so are you,
So let’s all praise the Lord!

We’d then scream something about our right arms and left arms, and by the end of the song we all looked like we were marching in place...

Well, the song serves it purpose — to expend energy. But what about it? Just who are the sons of Abraham?

Can we modern, western children really be Abraham’s sons?

It is no surprise that Abraham held such a prominent position in Israelite history... He is the father of the chosen nation and the one in whom the promise of God was sent forth, and we mustn’t miss the fact that God’s plan all along was to include Gentiles in His promise — the promise of adoption and reconciliation (Gal. 3:8)...

In this way, we Christians today, who are so far removed from the world in which Abraham lived, can call him our father.

And a question....why, in the light of this discussion, the term “Abrahamic faith” was invented?
I have heard that because Christianity, Judaism, and Mohammedanism all call to “Father Abraham”.

We don’t actually know how many sons and daughters Abraham had, as the number wasn’t given in the Bible.

Genesis 25:

25 Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah. 2 She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. 3 Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Ashurites, the Letushites and the Leummites. 4 The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.

5 Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac. 6 But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.

“Abrahamic” is a way of referring to Western monotheistic religions. Other major world religions are classified as “Dharmic” (South Asian) or “East Asian.”

We don’t actually know how many

The common characteristic of biblical genealogies is that they are incomplete..................

Well, the song serves it purpose — to expend energy. But what about it? Just who are the sons of Abraham?

"If you are Christ's, you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise."

The herald of the Christ and greatest of those of the old covenant, warned his hearers against trusting in their physical descent. Jesus himself called some of those hearing him as "of your father the devil".

"No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also."

"To the east", away from the presence of the LORD.

Yes, and another fact too wrap up all three ..all were born in the great sand pit of the Middle East. Mohammedanism from what is now Saudi Arabia, Judaism from Egypt to the land of Canaan, with Christianity coming from there, later on.
