Sister Dottie Almoney is the new Directing Deaconess of the Deaconess Community of the ELCA. Before this, however, she spent more than two decades on staff at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, working in various capacities and, most recently as the Director of Education & Outreach.
Preaching her final sermon at St. Peters, she took her church to task for their wayward ways, blasting them for being a bunch of backstabbing gossipers who were seemingly complaining about her progressive theology.
Notably, she tells congregants that if they are so uncomfortable with the ELCA and their views on social policies, it is likely time to consider leaving: VIDEO ON LINK I KNOW YOU WILL JUST LOVE IT.

She may be right about the gossip - stand up and tell these folks directly and lovingly about their heresy. And/or leave.
And they wonder why people are leaving the “mainstream” churches. Well - I guess they are mainstream with relation to our ungodly culture today.
Such a spirit of compassion with scriptural authority... not.

A more recent article from 2023 showed about 2,800,000 members.

Just guessing ... she wouldn’t possibly be an advocate for LGBTQ+ approval/inclusiveness/promotion and perhaps abortion, would she?
this is an inaccurate number of active membership. I am member in good standing that has not attended church on regular basis for 20 years. I am guessing there are a lot of members like me that just stopped going and never told anyone because of woke ideology creeping into the church
And here I thought she would do the leaving.

During my ministry, I’ve been accused of many things, being more interested in saving the world instead of saving souls, spewing leftist dogma, being a detriment to the church, liberalizing the youth, and indoctrinating the youth to liberal causes, and going as far as saying that I teach the kids during Sunday school how to be trans, and I am furthering sinful behavior by advocating for those in the LGBTQ community.
Yes, the Apostle to the Gentiles wrote that under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. However, many of the Gentiles, have not obeyed their Apostle. It is not as if this was also not prophesied.
The secular institution known as “ELCA” stopped being Lutheran in 1995.
