Holy God,
Blessed are You, Father, for hearing and responding to this prayer from Your children scattered across this nation (and beyond). Every day we are confronted with choices of how to think, how to speak, how to react, how to believe. We can choose to honor You, or we can choose to pay homage to evil. You have given us the choice, but You mercifully encourage us to choose life over death, blessings over curses. Thank You that Your way is perfect. Thank You, Lord, for Your lovingkindness and the many ways You equip us to do what You have asked us to do. In the darkness of this world, we ask You to help us to be the salt and light, and to be a wonderful branch of the Vine.
Father, we regret the divisiveness and clamor in America as we inch toward selecting our next President. We ask You to help us make wise choices to choose this day whom we will serve. Help us to know that You are greater than any leader, any government, and any nation. We bow before You and You alone. We stand in awe of You, Lord, for only You are worthy.
Lord, there is great fear in this world; yet we know that You are God and You take care of those who have chosen to place their trust in You. You are our Shield and Defender---our Strong Tower. We commit our families to You for Your protection. May we confess daily that surely Your goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives. We commit to You our beloved military men and women who stand in our earthly defense. We ask You to place a shield around them, Lord, and a hedge of protection from all those who hate America. May our troops recognize Your presence in their spirits so that they may not fear what man may do to them. Keep them as the apple of Your eye and lead them to dwell in the shadow of Your wings until these calamities are past. And may Your people, Israel, be blessed and protected this day and always.
How comforting it is to know that You have gone to prepare a place for us----a place where fighting and strife do not exist, where there will no longer be any abuse of power, and where there are no more tears, sickness, or sorrow. Lord, help us to do our part to advance Your Kingdom so that we can hasten the day of Your return. Even so, Lord, come quickly. In the Name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing. (I Thess. 5:16-17)
Please join us in prayer on this Lord’s Day.

All Saints of North America Sunday (Orthodox)
Kontakion
Today the choir of Saints who were pleasing to God in the lands of North America / now stands before us in the Church and invisibly prays to God for us. / With them the angels glorify Him, / and all the saints of the Church of Christ keep festival with them; / and together they all pray for us to the Pre-Eternal God.
Now the Church has named a new American Saint, an Alaskan Yupik woman:
Then there is my favorite, Saint Sebastian Dabovich of Jackson, a USA-born Serb who evangelized Arizona (among many other places):

Amen to your Beautiful, Powerful Prayer, Dear Servant of the King of kings.
Joining you in Thanksgiving, Prayer, and Praise.
