VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) – Clergy at St. Peter’s Basilica will bless same-sex couples.
According to a report in the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero today, the archpriest of Rome’s most famous church, Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, has stated that blessings of homosexual couples could happen there.
“To show the world the maternal face of the Church and along the lines of what Pope Francis has asked for,” Gambetti reportedly said.
However, he added that as yet nobody has asked the canons of the basilica for such a blessing.
“It doesn’t seem to me that reports have come in,” the cardinal stated and added that they, presumably the clergy of the basilica, “will move straight along the furrow that has been cut.”
Gambetti made the remarks during a press conference about the upcoming restoration of Bernini’s famous baldacchino.

It doesn’t matter what level of validation they receive for their lifestyle. In the middle of the night they’ll still end up feeling something odd deep down inside - what they do is wrong somehow. The next best thing is for them to get everyone in on the perversion and accept, endorse and eventually encourage it. Even then there’s still that tinge.

Time for a revolt. American and African cardinals need to ask their lawyers whether they can defy the Pope without having their church property seized by the Vatican.

I have talked with a couple of priests here in Diocese of Rockville Center. One used the words schism or reformation. The other nodded agreement.

Asking a lawyer doesn’t sound like a revolt.
I suspect that he isn’t nor ever has been the pinnacle of faith, hope and humility such a high icon in the church should be and that he’s ‘hedging his bets’ trying every off-the-wall antithetical thing he can to get some sense of his piety. But to my mind he’s only made life here on this planet worse - much worse.

One of the things that most annoyed the bishops and cardinals present was the indolent attitude of Cardinal (Mauro) Gambetti, archpriest of St. Peter’s Basilica. His cold and mechanical attitude in the celebration of the rites (and the voice of a man just out of bed that could be heard), and his lack of obedience of many rubrics did not go unnoticed.
