I’ve written several columns in this space about the weird media meltdown in response to new U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. First, journalists rushed to tell on themselves by mocking the fact that Johnson and his son use Covenant Eyes, an accountability software designed to help people keep their lives porn-free. Then there was the spate of stories breathlessly informing us that Johnson, a self-confessed Christian, does in fact believe all sorts of Christian things. The term “Christian nationalist” has been chucked about quite a bit, although what those using it actually mean is “Christian in the public square.”
But the ante, as they say, has been upped. James Carville, the famous Democrat political strategist who helped engineer Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential victory, went on HBO’s Realtime with Bill Maher to discuss just how dangerous Mike Johnson and American Christians really are to the United States – as it turns out, very dangerous.

The First Amendment says something about religion.
Being deplorable and Christian comes with rewards
I think that we are going to have to take Yuval Noah Harari more seriously. IMHO he is the predicted False Prophet. 🤔
Christians are a bigger threat than Al Qaeda? If only...
“IMHO he is the predicted False Prophet.“
One of many. He is indeed demonic.
Why do “Carville” and “serpent” seem to be paired in my mind’s eye?
James Carville has made some very astute statements in the past (”It’s the economy, stupid!”) and yet wallows in deep visceral hate of the least inkling of moral standards and religious belief in others.
I see Carville as completely amoral, power is truly everything. It is only that Herself is such a particularly slender reed, that almost anyone with some moral strength could have beaten her in 2016. Trump did it with a great degree of style.
You have no such knowledge...
You miss the point.
It doesn’t matter what “we” think,
what matters is the tale
that they tell about us through him.
He is their villain. They are framing him up for the narrative that fits their demonic dreams.
Whether you think Mike Johnson is a Christian or not matters very little. What matters is what the left thinks he represents.
You truly understand.
"but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."
And even the 1st Amendment speaks of it as one of the freedoms to be protected. As Johnson himself has said, even Jefferson's Letter (to the Danbury Baptists Association) only speaks of our freedom to practice it without interference from the government.
Nowhere does the Constitution or the Amendments place restrictions on its practice.
Perhaps I should have been more precise in my original comment.
You might not agree with Speaker Johnson it you show ignorance about born again Christian faith. Mike and his wife have been outstanding examples of salt and light. We are extremely fortunate to have a man of faith representing the republicans in congress!
Anyone who supports the Democrat Party simply cannot tell the difference between right and wrong.
The only danger is a fully corrupt government by the Marxist rat party.
It’s very real and happening now. If it wasn’t for a conservative majority in SCOTUS, America would be a heaping pile of rat poisoned dung today.
There really isn’t anything good about the leftist rat party. It’s unAmerican, Marxist, fully criminal, zero ethics, zero integrity, zero honesty, zero transparency, and those are its best features. It should be banned from all western countries.
Anyone who supports the Democrat Party simply cannot tell the difference between right and wrong.
Meanwhile, Morgana posted a piece by a prophet for hire (though he does not believe in prophet types) asserting that Johnson saying he thought that the Lord was going to allow him to “be an Aaron to Moses” is "absurd, cult-like, and heretical," "actually quite blasphemous" and manifesting a "level of arrogance and self-idolatry" as he " has set himself up as a type of Christ" and as part of a "movement [that] is anything but good as it seeks to take dominion over every aspect of society through despite its heological aberrations and strange fire." But which I reproved, by the grace of God.
Remember the Romney.
